  1. It's about the way they operate. Public and media reaction is something they very much care about.
  2. I said all off season that I thought AA had no $ to spend unless he cleared payroll room first. I also pointed out that there was a new Rogers boss taking over for Mohammed and that it probably meant any payroll promises made by the retiring C.E.O. were out the window with the new guy. What I don't get is why it would take this long to make a change. Time is being wasted. A new FO could be evaluating the entire organization and looking to decide whether to recommend a full rebuild or a retool to the owners. Anyway...
  3. The Cubs are paying a good chunk of Soriano's contract, but nice try. No one has bailed out the Dodgers yet, we'll talk if/when it does happen and if it does happen, I suspect the Dodgers will have to send a good chunk of $ to the other team and not expect much in terms of prospects in return. I never mentioned the Braves, but yes, Uggla's deal was bad, but at least they didn't give up any prospects to get B.J. Upton. By the way, how's High85 doing?
  4. So when will the owners smell the coffee and clean house?
  5. Maybe Janssen can bring something back, but there's no way this franchise would be willing to risk being seen as waiving the white flag by its fan base.
  6. I always found it fishy that a GM, whose only redeeming quality MAY be negotiating contracts, would take on such huge contracts in one trade, including a contract (Reyes's) that resembles Wells's. Anyway, what's done is done. Hopefully, they go on another 9-gamer soon.
  7. Your trollish predictions keep being wrong, maybe it's time to give up?
  8. How much time does one need to evaluate AA's tenure? It's obvious he overpaid for aging and expensive players, this is all the evaluation you need. If this franchise's owners do in fact want it to be run efficiently, a new FO should already be in place. Time is very important and wasting a whole year "evaluating" doesn't bode well. I suspect ownership is as clueless as the people they put in charge and even worse, I dread Beeston is their main man.
  9. Actually, it may mean they're more likely to be traded in a deal to get the other team to eat salary.
  10. It looks like you'd have to buy the team to make your wish of firing AA come true.
  11. Not defending AA. I was fine with seeing through the supposed rebuild. It's just that some fans act like they know it all when they were as wrong as the "dumb FO". Over all, I couldn't care less about AA, I just happen to think good franchises are built from the top on down. In other words, if AA is so bad, then a good owner would've already fired him. The fact that ownership leaves most of its decisions to Beeston doesn't instill much confidence in me when it comes to their vision for this franchise, but that's just me.
  12. I've pointed this out also. Time for a promotion to AAA?
  13. Thing is, there's no reason to have waited this long to make a move. If they already have someone waiting in the wings, they're wasting valuable time, especially with the deadline coming up. They could be looking at trying to trade some players to retool or go into a full rebuild (highly unlikely).
  14. It was just a simple question, don't get all riled up.
  15. I just don't get why they wouldn't have already fired him if they saw he had failed. I have hypothesized in other threads that maybe they have hired a consultant in secret to evaluate him and have told them not to make any moves without their consent, at least any major moves.
  16. Oh, if Beeston's doing the hiring, you can be sure that if there's a worse option out there, he'll find it.
  17. Should I link to it on the MLB board?
  18. What was your prediction for the team in 2013 again?
  19. If ownership actually understands or believes that "we suck and will continue to suck until a new cycle of players and ideas come into the mix", why not clean house now? In fact, nevermind now, why didn't they clean house in the off season instead of wasting another year? My guess would be ownership don't know s*** and this franchise's problems start at the top.
  20. What was Sanchez's IP limit this season? He had 86 IP in 2013 and was at 98 coming into tonight. Anyway...
  21. It's been a while since I re-watched any Seinfeld, but it's a must re-do soon for me to just relax and laugh for a bit. You don't wanna know what I think of governments. It's really amazing to me how anyone believes anything that comes out of politicians' mouths, let alone have any trust in them. I think I'll leave it at that so as to not start a political debate. I have no illusions that Montreal will get another team, at least not in the near or mid-term future. There is definitely a different revenue-sharing system in place which would give the team a better chance. However, good to great ownership is a must as a foundation.
  22. Anybody else think Derrick Loveless deserves some, ummm, love? Nice BB%, not much power, but could be a sleeper. I guess I'm just bored and was trying to find the next Pompey. Will continue to keep an eye on him.
  23. I won't argue with you with regards to how many condoms are being used in this city since you're the Architect here. At the same time, I think we're in agreement that if the stadium isn't built in the right location, it's best not to even bring a team back to this city since it would be set up to fail again.
  24. Sorry Peach, but in this discussion between you and Vandelay, I'll have to side with the Architect.
  25. Gotta be downtown if it's gonna be a success, that new potential site seems too far away from downtown...and the strip joints.
