  1. It would be nice, but no doubt a DT park would have to be built and I don't see the city the municipal or provincial govt forking up the funding, not that I would like them to fund it. It probably won't happen regardless as politicians here are too busy redistributing what little wealth is left.
  2. If the team doesn't contend next year, I'd trade him at the deadline for a decent haul I would think.
  3. And that's a big IF. Not only was that a strong relay throw to Goins, but it was on Goins's glove side so he was in a good throwing position after he caught it. We know Rasmus' throwing is pretty bad, at least that's what I see. I'm sure you'd agree that Gose hitting enough to warrant moving Rasmus to LF would be ideal, but that's another big IF.
  4. Well that game-ending play was certainly Alomaresque. I think he was a SS through the minors so his range could be really good. I've gotta say, I've seen him make at least as many good plays at 2B as I remember Izturis/Bonifacio making all year so it might be a case of just how bad those 2 were. Speaking of D, Gose NOT throwing to 3B in the 9th inning to try and get the runner going 1st to 3rd was a good decision. And was that OF assist, where Gose and Goins combined to get A-Rod at the plate, the first by a Jays' CF this year? I certainly can't remember Rasmus getting an assist.
  5. Especially concerning is that they may not care enough about defense. I think there are several examples of this, but I really thought they needed to move Kawasaki at 2b when Reyes returned, but they apparently hadn't seen enough of Bonifacio/Izturis to know they hurt the pitching staff.
  6. From what LITTLE I've watched Goins play, he at least plays good D, but we all know it's SSS. I really don't think the team will have enough money to get a C, 2B and a SP so it's quite possible that they either go with a defensive-first option at C or at 2B so Goins might be in the mix. If they can't sign guys who can provide good D and O at C and 2B, I'd rather they go all defense-first at both positions. Of course, they'll probably extend JPA for 10 more years so this is all moot.
  7. The Blue Jays are always caught in between. They should've blown it up the 1st 2 years of AA's tenure, instead they went with the retool. They extended Bautista and Romero and went after guys like Rasmus, Escobar and Morrow who could've been flipped for more prospects if they had committed to a full rebuild. Last offseason's trades were another example of the fact that they're trying to sell ratings and hype at the expense of what's best for the franchise on the field.
  8. Exactly. How do you go from being a prospect-hoarder and acquiring guys like Escobar, Rasmus, Morrow, Lawrie to acquiring old and overpaid guys without having the plan changed by the president or owner? Who knows, but as long as this Beeston character is there, I don't think anyone should feel confident that he'll hire the "right" GM or let him finish a rebuilding process which will inevitably hit some roadblocks along the way, just look at the Mets with the Matt Harvey injury, he may be out all of 2014 and they'll have to take it easy in 2015 which will set them back a year or 2. At least the Mets have gone though their failed attempt at buying a WS with vetrins and hopefully learned their lesson.
  9. Agree. The budget won't allow for much more, they need to focus on going hard after a C and a guy like Garza, try and backload the deal or something. I'd focus on D at 2B or SS, maybe they can convince Reyes that moving to 2B next year would help keep him healthy even if it's probably bs.
  10. Yes, Gibbons will be the manager opening day 2014. Remember, AA hired him because they became friends during their time in the JPR regime. He certainly wasn't hired because he was a hot commodity. AA would look like a bigger idiot if he fired him because he'd be telling the baseball world that he hired the wrong manager for the 2nd time in 2 tries. I doubt he does that and you have to remember that AA has praised Gibbons for his bullpen management and since AA is obsessed with bullpens, he must really hold Gibbons in very high regard.
  11. It feels like a disappointing season for me because my goal was to win it all. What makes it worse is that I didn't give it my best shot, heck I didn't even try, as hard as it is to admit. I barely played the last month or so as my heart was not into it. I know I had the talent to do it, but I just didn't have that winning thing.
  12. Man, at least I've admitted that I was wrong when I picked them to win 90 games or so. I can watch in peace without any resentment, when you're wrong you're wrong, good thing is I don't get paid to do this, AA on the other hand does.
  13. The issue to me is patience. Letting a rebuilding process run its course is very important, even more so when you have a disappointing season like 2012. Who lost patience and why is the big question for me. I suspect Beeston was a big proponent of going all in last off season, but I can't prove it. Fire AA? Sure, why not. Although it's interesting that we resent him for emptying a farm system that he was responsible for building.
  14. I would think you'd need to compare this with the other 29 teams during the same period to convince many here, assuming we put aside our pissedoffness.
  15. Mentiras. Syndergaard was a consensus Blue Jays' top 3 prospect.
  16. One thing I like about Farrell's comments is that the media will have to talk about this and scrutinize the organization.
  17. I'm against this. I want to see Nolin get a few more starts at AAA. I'd also like to see Stroman finish the year at AAA and I want to see both of them start next year at AAA along with Drabek, Hutchison and Synderg....oh wait!
  18. s***, I made the playoffs even though I haven't played in the last month or so. I good!
  19. How about a 5-year extension? With 2 option years of course.
  20. Looking forward to Nolin's AAA debut as well.
  21. Nice, this explains why I couldn't find him in the Lansing box scores. Boyd will hopefully turn out to be the next Nolin.
  22. Or maybe the Blue Jays shouldn't have traded their upper minors prospects.
