  1. McGowan, Happ and LAA pitching have set up the Jays to be swept with Weaver and Wilson starting the next 2 games for the Halos. Let's hope the bats come alive today and steal one of the next 2.
  2. I'm not even sure Janssen is available today as he pitched an inning yesterday with NH and hasn't gone on back-to-back days since ST I believe. It's weird how nice the media is to AA, I wonder if he's buying them dinner every night.
  3. Bautista- 1 Point- o2cui2i, jaysguy34, flafson, Johnhavok, Glock Edwin - 1 Point- Frenchsoup, JaysAllMighty Colby "f***IN" Rasmus - 1 Point-Spanky99, jays4life19, GD, Orgfiller Francisco - 1 Points- Dylan Lind - 1 Points-baseballsss Lawrie - 2 Points- LetTheBallFly Melky - 2 Points- gruber92, ElNik2013 Reyes - 3 Points- G-Snarls Navarro - 5 Points- Kratz - 5 Points- Thole - 8 Points- Tolleson - 8 Points- Getz - 9 Points
  4. I think it's worse that they're carrying 8 relievers. They could just have a normal bullpen plus a 4th OF like Pillar or Mastroianni and still have Kratz/Navarro as a platoon partner for Lind even if this is far from ideal.
  5. I agree. I think some are just reaching to find some logic for Stroman being wasted in the BP for a guy like Happ. At the end of the day, they want to give the veteran a "fair shot" plus they owe him $5+M so they are hoping to somehow get some value out of that deal.
  6. i think I'd go with Pillar since he can be sent down whereas Mastroianni would have to be risked on waivers if they were to send him back down, at least I think. It doesn't hurt that Pillar has been tearing the cover off the ball lately.
  7. I agree that Happ will get at least 3 more starts. However, AA has said that none of Morrow, McGowan, Hutchison or Stroman are on innings limit. Even if it were true that Stroman is capped around 150 innings, why wouldn't Hutchison be capped at around 120 innings? What I mean is that Stroman threw around 120 innings in 2013 (plus extended ST innings as he served his surpension). Hutchison, on the other hand, threw around 60 innings after coming back from TJS. So again, by this logic, Hutchison should've started in bullpen. Oh and Hutchison is 9 months older than Stroman, for whatever this is worth. A new GM needs to come in with a clean slate and round out the roster.
  8. This team needs a fresh GM to come in ASAP and make the proper roster moves to give them a chance. AA simply has too much baggage to worry about in terms of DFA'ing Happ and/or others and might be too afraid of his trades looking worse than they already do.
  9. I don't think the bullpen is overworked. I think Santos and Delabar are going through bad stretches plus I think Gibbons hasn't helped matters with the way he's used his relievers. They're also shooting themselves in the foot by keeping Happ in the rotation. His career numbers indicate what he is, AA is simply reluctant to admit his man-crush on him turned out to be wrong. They could help their rotation by inserting Stroman in for Happ or McGowan. I also don't get activating Janssen today since he pitched yesterday. Is he even available? The bullpen is rested. They've had a few blowouts this week and Redmond and Rogers gave them a shot in the arm yesterday.
  10. Best bet would be a Pillar/Gose platoon. I think Rasmus will be gone, although I do hope they get a pick in return. At least Melky is a switch-hitter and doesn't need a platoon partner. Lots of season left though, let's see how it plays out.
  11. I've brought this up already, but it makes no sense to manage Stroman's innings, but not Hutshison's. They could manage Stroman's innings while allowing him to continue to take a regular turn in the Buffalo rotation. If you look at the way Gibbons has used him + his comments about him, it seems they're babying him. Also, the longer he stays in the bullpen, the farther away from starting he gets. It really makes no sense to me to have to re-stretch him out in the middle of the season. This will probably mean they'll send him back down to Buffalo to start again thus giving Happ/McGowan more starts. Anyway, it is what it is.
  12. This obviously confirms Lawrie will see lots of 2b against RHP and Tolleson will start at 2B against LHP. At least they kept Kratz. On the other hand, they're back to 8 relievers. I hope the next move is Happ out and Mastroianni or Pillar in.
  13. I guess the emphasis on defense has gone away, lol. JuanFran is already coming back down to earth at the plate, just wait for a couple of costly errors and this experiment will end.
  14. The point I was making there is that they hurt their chances of being in contention by having a s***** pitcher in the rotation in May. For the record, I don't think they're trying to limit Stroman's innings. If they were, why wouldn't this apply to Drew Hutchison? Remember, Hutchison was rushed after 6 AA starts. Hutchison also only pitched around 60 total innings in 2013 while coming back from TJS so again, why would they have an IP limit on Stroman and not on Hutchison who's only 9 months older than Stroman?
  15. Pillar: 2-2, 2B, HR. Now hitting .310. Mastroianni: 0-0, 2BB.
  16. Norris: 4IP, 3H, 0BB, 6K. Pompey: 2-2, HR, BB, 2SB (17).
  17. Here's the story by BNS on the Jays following the Cards' lead with Stroman: http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/blue-jays-follow-cardinals-lead-with-stroman/ Problem is, the Cards, as mentioned by Mozeliak, had strong rotations, but BNS didn't point that out to second guess the Jays.
  18. On a more positive note, Norris so far tonight: 3IP, 2H, 0ER, 0BB, 5K.
  19. I'm probably in the minority here, but I actually suspect Gibbons asked AA to call up Stroman for the BP.
  20. They're trying to get some sort of return on their Happless investment, that's how I see it, even if it hurts their team. It's not about trying to ease a young pitcher into MLB or limiting his IP. If it was, why wouldn't this apply to Hutchison? Hutchison is 9 months older than Stroman; was rushed from AA in 2012 after 6 starts and 31IP at that level; threw only around 60 IP last year coming back from TJS. Anyway...let's hope they see the light soon.
  21. Yeah, AA and Gibbons probably would be surprised to find this out.
  22. Gibbons on Stroman's role:
  23. I can accept that they may be easing him into MLB, but at what point do his feet get wet? Remember, Hutchison is also likely to be on an even shorter IP limit since he threw around 60 innings in 2013 as he came back from TJS, so I guess he should've been in the bullpen to start the year. Anyway, we'll see what happens.
