I have no problem giving credit where credit is due, but let's wait on proclaiming Francisco to be the real deal. Also, it was super scout EE who recommended they sign him, so I don't know. The Indians immediately put Gomes behind the plate whereas the Blue Jays and their myriad scouts had him playing multiple positions so they must've had a clue. Former Jays catcher Kevin Cash works for them and was involved in advising Cleveland on getting him. s*** happens, but let's face it, it shouldn't take a legitimate backup IF and a guy like Gomes to land a dime-a-dozen middle reliever.
Regardless, I was merely pointing out that if AA didn't have a reliever fetish, he likely wouldn't have dealt these 2 useful players for a reliever. Anyway...
