  1. Yeah, but it's not like injuries have nothing to do with it. You have to accept that the team is short-handed right now, it simply is. I'm not suggesting Gibbons is a bad manager, but many seem to always pit him against AA and conveniently FORGET that it was A f***ing A who went against all odds to REHIRE Gibbons after the organization decided to try to contend ASAP instead of going into 2013 expected to lose 95 games. And I'd say the same ting about AA, I've liked some of what he's done in the past, but I don't give a f*** about him either.
  2. Funny, isn't it? Team's doing well and certain posters flat out disappear. Team is in a funk and they reappear. I guess they can't find a forum where they can discuss their favourite team so they come here to troll.
  3. Yup. I'd like to see how other lineups would look with 2 of their top 6 hitters out and 2 more limping around. Even Rasmus has been dealing with a wrist issue. We all know the team needed a RHB and an everyday 2B. Reimold may be the bat, they are clearly looking at getting an everyday 2b/3b...we'll see what happens.
  4. Everyone is always kissing Gibbons ass here. I like him, but not that much.
  5. Thanks for that. I must've beein thinking of Cole who should probably be in AA.
  6. I'd say the team needs a SS. They can play him at 2B for now, but as soon as they can convince Reyes to move off SS, he takes over there. However, I know what you mean. So who's a better option? Remember, being a rental is part of the criteria.
  7. Probably age vs level. He should be in Dunedin though, I don't know why he hasn't been promoted. Same with Cole who's in Dunedin, he's been good and has reportedly added a couple MPH to his FB, but is still in Dunedin.
  8. The Beest says no first. This franchise is very sensitive to PR and trading Joey Bats would be a huge PR hit. (I also don't think it makes sense for the Mets, but they're not the team I follow). Also, couldn't the Jays get a pretty good package for Bautista without having to take on a bad contract if they were to deal him?
  9. Hey Padres, take Nay, but throw in Denorfia?
  10. The leverage the Padres have is in that they can tell a team that if they want him now as opposed to late July, they have to pony up more. This is why the Jays would have to give up more than other teams given how desperate they are.
  11. My thinking as well. Headley's having a down year and has a bad back, I'd take the QO if I were him. On the Padres side, they're rebuilding, I don't see them making the QO.
  12. If you're Headley, do you not accept the QO given how guys like Drew, Cruz and Santana ended up signing so late? Plus, I'm not sure the Padres would want to run the risk that Headley accepts the QO and have to pay him $14M?
  13. So what will the price be?
  14. That's fine by me, we all knew the team has holes and once injuries hit, they'd be exposed. They also started to struggle before the injuries hit them really hard this year so it is what it is.
  15. Looking forward to Pentecost's debut, reportedly later on this week.
  16. They don't have enough to get them, both in terms of $$$$ and prospects. I also don't think they're willing to trade the prospects even if they had the $$.
  17. I agree. I do wonder why his defense hasn't suffered as much as his offense, assuming the back issue is hurting his offense? I think the fact that he's a rental makes him more attractive to Jays. I've said all off season and haven't changed my mind, they have little if any, budget room.
  18. I think it's clear they won't make a blockbuster. I think they know they need to shore up the IF and bench. I think they'll try to patch things up and remain close to a playoff spot and hope the injured come back and help the team go on another tear.
  19. What's the price for catching and not just Chase-ing Headley?
  20. Gravity-defying balls up in the air, will they succumb to the Law or will they evade it and stay up for ever?
  21. Also of note: Mitch Nay had a 3-3 day with a BB. His BA is up to .284. I know he's been a bit disappointing, especially in the slugging department, but I still think he'll take off at some point, probably next year. Andy Burns had a 3-6 day with a 3B and HR. He upped his BA to .242 and his OPS over .700. His WRC+ should now be close to what he did last year at AA. I know these are underwhelming numbers, but he started off so badly that it's encouraging that he's getting hot in the 2nd half, much like last year. I'm hoping he can make it to AAA or start there in 2015 and become a solid utility player with the Jays. He can play 3B, SS, possibly 2B and could possibly learn to play the corner OF. As you can see with the spade of injuries, guys like this can bring some value to teams.
  22. There are some projectable lefties also like Borucki, Smith, Lentz (sp?) and a project like Brentz. I'm hoping Castro can earn a promotion for a few starts at Lansing before the end of the season.
  23. Funny you mention this because I've been wondering the same thing. Who knows really, but I've speculated that the new Rogers head honcho may have hired a consultant to review The Beest and Aa's job and may have put a freeze on major moves or that they be reviewed by the consultant...just my mind at work you know.
  24. I don't know that every team has several of their starting 9 injured or walking wounded at the same time and still make the playoffs. Maybe it happens once in a while, but I doubt it's a regular occurrence. Is it a flawed team? Yes. However, I do cut them some slack for the injuries, especially when they happen at the same time. We'll see what happens.
