    Yeah he was. Contracts both 5/100 ish Reyes probably less of an injury risk Both 30 +/- a few months Tulo projecting at a win or so better at the time of the deal

    It's kind of ironic that we're all celebrating the departure of Reyes, when Reyes when we acquired him was basically on par with Tulo skill/contract/injury wise.

    Metrics say average or a bit below. Nobody watches the Rockies, so who knows.

    Oh the Reyes -> Tulo change is probably a big upgrade. Have to wait to see the whole deal though.

    Think even that is too much. Tulo has missed 50+ games a year including groin and hip problems, and will now be playing his age 31-35 seasons on turf.

    So Tulo is owed $94 million for the next five years with a $15M team option and $4M buyout in 2021. Reyes is owed $44 million for the next 2 years with a $22M team option and $4M buyout in 2018. If those two are included, I imagine multiple top prospects were also sent to Colorado.

    That's kind of what I was getting at when I said I didn't care that Carrasco was 5 years older than Stroman. We'd have both for the next 5 years at a palatable price, and aside from the 100% certainty that Carrasco is healthier now, I don't have any information that one is more likely than the other to be healthy over the rest of that 5 year span.

    I never said I'd trade Stroman and Travis for him. I wouldn't.

    Stroman's 130 innings of major league time are less impressive than what Carrasco has done over 250 innings in the last two years. And then you consider that Carrasco is healthy this year. That's huge. That's like 2 wins over Stroman in a year where two wins might matter. Given that Carrasco is actually controllable for 5.5 years, the age difference is immaterial to me. I don't care about 6 years down the road, and I'd prefer to have Carrasco for the next 5.5.

    Yeah, I imagine that's more or less what the ask was. Probably more.

    You could say the same about Kluber. And Keuchel. No real reason to think all three aren't legit aces at this point. Things change.

    I think that's a pretty weak offer. Hoffman and Norris are showing huge red flags right now. I imagine that Cleveland probably wanted Stroman or Travis as the centerpiece, and then a prospect or two added. They have no real reason to move Carrasco now, so they'd have to be blown away.

    Are you in here arguing that Stroman is not significantly less valuable than Carrasco?

    Of course you'd send Stroman the other way. The point of contention is what other players they'd want.

    Cleveland is generally a pretty good org. If they're trading Carrasco it's probably going to be for a huge haul.

    Gross. The two cheapest, youngest years of the deal are burnt. The Reds can f*** off.

    Wow, does Mike Montgomery ever suck.

    It's the same thing every year. People look at the standings in May/June/July when they should just be focusing on the team's record. It doesn't matter that the team is only 3 games out on June 23rd, because this division is five big boy teams (well, four and Toronto) and one of them is going to win 90 or damn close to it.
