  1. Lance Lynn getting TJS
  2. That's probably the most fair proposal yet.
  3. Or they could just eat the cash and trade him for like Puig or something instead of Pillar, some spare parts, and enough cash to sign Mike Pelfrey.
  4. It's kind of amazing how much Chris Johnson's 2013 looks like Chris Colabello's 2015. What an awful extension that was.
  5. IMO Colabello is pretty much worthless on the market. 32-year old 1B with a 110 wRC+ who can't run and is below average defensively.
  6. Not really. If you're trading an elite player like Carrasco you're not going to significantly water down your return to save $17M or whatever.
  7. Not even close.
  8. Pillar putting up 15 fWAR over the next 5 years is such a longshot that it's basically not even considerable. The highest OF fWAR over the last 5 years with a sub-100 wRC+ is Bourn at 12.1, and then it's Parra at 9.1. Very little chance his defense remains elite through age-31.
  9. KC kind of just won a World Series doing this. They added a bunch of wins to the defense and bullpen because it was the cheapest place to add, and basically ignored their starting rotation.
  10. That was the one.
  11. That's pretty gauche.
  12. Must have been Kiley's scouting bias showing through.
  13. Kiley McDaniel was saying on a podcast a few weeks ago that the ceiling for a pure analytics guy in an MLB org is basically director of analytics. I'm surprised someone like Sartori would leave a good job with apple to run a 3-person division with a glass ceiling.
  14. RIP ang
  15. Damn that's hard to look at.
  16. So SSRIs to treat depression is valid, but adderall to treat ADHD isn't?
  17. I'm sure you'd see the same thing if you took the SSRI from a person prone to depression or the insulin from a person who's diabetic.
  18. What a stupid rule.
  19. Well, WAR is park-adjusted, but you're right in saying his raw numbers would be boosted and likely make him more appealing. Hard to see a guy who's legs are so important sign here with the turf though.
  20. I think people are really selling Carrasco's value short. He's s top-10 SP signed cheap for like 5 years. Cleveland can easily beat Norris/Hoffman/Pompey.
  21. They teally should move him back to C. Keeping him healthy was one thing when he had a monster bat, but he's replacement-level anywhere but C at this point.

    NHL Thread

Jimmy Howard gets kneed in the head and is laying on the ice as Dallas continues to pass the pick around the Detroit end and throw it at the net. None of the officials blow the play dead until he sits up and catches the puck, then he leaves the game. Embarrassing officiating.
  23. Good call. Probably him.
  24. "“I’ve seen so many good baseball men who will be pushed out of the game, and never be allowed back, to make room for some of the huge analytical departments that these teams employ now,” said an American League GM. “And the question we all have: Has this made the game better? I’m not sure the answer to that is yes.”" AA?
