  1. A ton. I really hate when that gets brought up as an excuse for discussion about the merits of sending our spare parts away for an elite player.
  2. You don't think Boston or St. Louis would be all over Freddie Freeman? 26-year old franchise 1B locked up for 6 more years.
  3. Atlanta would certainly take a prospect package for Freddie Freeman? And Alford, Pompey, and Sanchez is going to be the best they get offered? Teams like Boston, St. Louis, and Washington would be willing to sell the farm for a guy like that.
  4. I've mentioned him in deals for Carlos Carrasco and Freddie Freeman, two of the top 30 or 40 most valuable assets in the game. The farm isn't exactly flush with the kind of talent that can be packaged for players like that.
  5. Why wasn't his account perma-banned for that?
  6. Luring Burnett out of retirement would be amazing.
  7. I think a discussion that starts with "well, Atlanta just made a terrible move so what package of s*** can we offer for their franchise player?" is kind of silly. I'm sure they have no interest whatsoever in a 32-year old DH. In a sane world, a trade for Freeman starts with Stroman.
  8. I'd be shocked if the two of them didn't talk on a daily basis. Shapiro probably has a good idea about everything LaCava is working on over the course of a day.
  9. They're really only the same in name only.
  10. Who you thinking? Rasmus, Estrada, Gallardo and Anderson were the guys I thought had a chance to accept. Looks like Gallardo is getting plenty of attention and will probably decline.
  11. I think they would have preferred that he walk and give them the pick. Springer in RF, Gomez in CF, and and a Tucker/Marisnick platoon in the last spot. A 5th OF would be needed, and Rasmus certainly helps, but this can't be the optimal way to spend 16M of their budget.
  12. Such a crazy price to pay for a guy they're going to platoon.
  13. The Braves roster is so bad. Freeman, Miller, and a bunch of garbage.
  14. Didn't they want Harvey or deGrom?
  15. Eww gross. I couldn't even give Ellis away in the DDL.
  16. This is probably not what Houston wanted.
  17. A fairly successful outcome for Pompey is Ben Revere: 90-100 wRC+ corner OF who can run and play some CF in a pinch, and nobody wants to pay him $6.7M this year. Of course we can still dream on him becoming Starling Marte, which gives him more value.
  18. That was probably strong on my part. I'm not expecting Pompey to be an above average player this year, and think that a year from now there won't be clear separation between his value and the value of a comp pick, which is somewhere in the $10-20M range.
  19. I think the comp pick will be more valuable than Pompey a year from now.
  20. 4th rounder well spent.
  21. He's also like two homerless months from being considered garbage on this forum. See: the massive shift in opinion on Dan Norris between April and July. His upside is limited by the fact that he doesn't have ay power. I think that's the kind of guy you can move for a 3+ win upgrade, especially with the comp pick coming back.
  22. He says he wants to play a few more years.
