  1. Being new to that stuff is like being new to baseball because you're learning to look at the game in a different way than you always did. Sometimes the forum is too hard on posters who are open to a more analytical perspective but haven't learned a lot about it yet.
  2. I'm in on Kimbrel. I'm back on the bullpen bandwagon.
  3. Isn't Thanos pretty new to baseball? Kind of s***** to make fun of him if so.

I don't really follow NHL fancy stats. Is Abdelkader bad?
  5. He could be yours for the small cost of one high end prospect.
  6. Not quite sure of the relevance of this question to the post you quoted.
  7. Dat farm
  8. We could have been co-workers lol. So you were selected over 101 others? Congrats.
  9. I called up Marko Dano.
  10. My office hires a lot of co-op students from economics/business programs, but the work they do is pretty boring compared to what you'll be doing. It's awesome that the team gets involved in that. They probably get more applicants than anyone else.
  11. Is it an intern program affiliated with the school?
  12. Good for you North. It's awesome that it worked out for you this year. GD next?
  13. Tony Sipp would be a good target. A third lefty to complement Cecil and Loup would really help the pen.
  14. I'm sure the article mentions this, but he gets an elite amount of infield flies, so there are tangible reasons that you can see on the stat sheet. It's not a complete leap of faith.
  15. Zobrist (3/42) Kuma (3/42) Kennedy (3/36) Lackey (2/30) Jaso (2/12) Lowe (2/8) Madson(1/5) Are all appealing.
  16. I bring up Mark Lowe because I think you'd have a hard time showing that a 32-year old 1-win 2B is more likely to turn into a pumpkin than a 32-year old 1-win reliever. In either case, it would be easy to say "of course the 32-year old bombed - bad signing", but I think 90+% of the forum would give that contract to Lowe.
  17. West, Guilmet, and Hendriks.
  18. Would you sign Mark Lowe to a 3/11 contract? I would. And I wouldn't blame management if he bombed.
  19. Am I the only one who had no issue with the Izturis signing? The team had no middle infielders and at the time he was as consistent and reliable as a bench middle infielder could be. $3.33M for a guy who looked like a great bet to provide 0.5-1.5 WAR in a part-time role is not too high a price to pay, and the third year was required to get him. He fell off a cliff at 32 years old, but I don't think it's fair to blame AA for not seeing that coming.
  20. Who said that? I had no idea Jays management knew/cared what a WAR was.
  21. Does anyone actually know what $/WAR we should all be using when we do these stupid things? People throw around anywhere from 7-11.
  22. If you start that exercise using Steamer's current projection (3.5 WAR) the projected surplus goes from 50 to ~20.
  23. So clearing $75M while also picking up 4 years of Grandal is unimpressive because something about unlimited funds, while taking a 1/10 gamble on a guy that anyone would have projected at close to 2 wins was a terrible decision? I'm not exactly following you here.
  24. Entering his age-28 season with a career 1 fWAR/600, and Steamer has him at ~0.6 fWAR/600. I'll say somewhere between 0.5 and 1.
