Yeah. Stroman, Sanchez, Estrada, Happ, Liriano in-house means that Dickey @ 8-10M is probably not the best use of resources next year. It would be surprising to see him brought back at this point.
Works for Toronto without necessarily being bad for Pittsburgh. Shedding 17M is huge for them, and McGuire and Ramirez most likely bust. I like it for the Jays though. Basically buying two interesting prospects and rotation upside with $$$.
Not gonna lie, I'm experiencing a bit of schadenfreude here. With his overall arrogant attitude and obnoxious contract posturing a few months ago, sitting at 0.6 fWAR in August of his walk year looks good on him.
Santana would be a nice addition. Above-average starter who has been very durable, and his contract is very nice: 13.5M in 2017 and 2018 and then a 14M team option in 2019 and vesting option in 2020. If he comes at a cost of very little prospect capital, he's a nice mid-rotation starter that could be here for 3-4 years.
And he probably means no Dickey/Thole next year.
Mistake on my end playing that gas can Street when I didn't need a save. Oh well. I do appreciate that you put in a 100% effort even though you're out of it.
So he can throw 4 innings once every 5 days and Osuna can throw 3, all in high leverage. A key difference being that Osuna has proven that he can dominate MLB hitters. I don't think you can confidently say that De Leon makes the team better.
