  1. There's some salary that can be moved out too. Carrera is probably movable, and if not is only owed 1/6th of his 1.9M salary. Steve Pearce has become superfluous and the team could probably find a way to shed most of his 6.5M salary. Even Loup at 1.81 is movable and mostly replaceable by a league min guy. I see enough flexibility to allow them to make room for Cain/Cobb/Lynn if they think they can make a deal with one of them.
  2. Is it just me or are more and more players making it known that they want to be traded because their team sucks? When you signed a long term contract, you gave up the freedom to make that choice. Seeing the Starlin Castros and Josh Harrisons of the world act like they're above toiling away on a non-playoff team is annoying.
  3. I feel the same as L54. The Giants are an old team of vanilla players that won’t likely be good for a long time and aren’t fun to watch. I love Longo and was pissed when he got traded there.
  4. Did you post the wrong story?
  5. I'm warming to the idea of Cobb or Lynn. There isn't single pitcher signed into 2019, so they can absorb the risk of a multi-year deal on a mid-rotation type.
  6. This has been a very solid offseason. Nothing flashy, but nice low risk additions.
  7. Apparently it’s Crick plus one additional ‘mid range’ prospect. Sounds less valuable than, like, Leone and Pompey
  8. Kyle Crick is part of the return lol
  9. Wow. This is just going to be a pile of trash to Pittsburgh.
  10. Chris Shaw will be the centerpiece probably. Maybe like him and Chris Stratton.
  11. I wonder if Kendrick's deal is like 1/6.5 with a 0.5 buyout or something. 2/7 is a ridiculous steal.
  12. There was nothing all that interesting about his statistical profile until he started murdering balls late in 2016, then carried it over to the AFL. I believe njh laid out some well-reasoned thoughts as to why he was overrated and uninteresting at the time. Scouts had him as a quick-learning baseball rat with huge power, plus speed, OF chops, and and 80-grade makeup.
  13. I, for one, thank the scouts every day for giving me Ronald Acuna in the DDL and Cody Bellinger in BORED.
  14. So Leone, Stroman, Pillar, and Osuna left. Stroman is probably the last chance at a long term extension this offseason.
  15. Sanchez signs for 2.7M. Between him (0.8), Donaldson (2.3), and Loup (0.0125) the team has spent about 3.1M more than MLBTR projected on their arb guys so far.
  16. An offseason extension is awfully unlikely at this point.
  17. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/01/blue-jays-josh-donaldson-avoid-arbitration.html
  18. I prefer to describe him as the guy who's never had an ERA over 3, has a 67% GB rate, and is Texas' closer.
  19. Rangers closer Alex Claudio is your man
  20. Carrera (1.9) and Loup (1.8125) avoided arb.
  21. It’s a fair deal, but I’m happy it’s not Toronto. Bruce is a thoroughly uninteresting player.
  22. Holy crisp that’s a bad deal for TCA
  23. Verlander Keuchel Cole McCullers Morton/Peacock/Martes/Paulino Not bad
