It would have been absurd to trade Donaldson for Flaherty and like Gomber or something in the offseason.

I remember some of the same people complaining now losing their s*** when people posted that we’d likely get a non-Reyes pitching prospect and not much else. Shatkins would have been crucified in the offseason for trading Donaldson for Flaherty and a 2nd lesser piece.

The Leafs fans I know aren't enjoying this either. The Battle of Ontario is at it's best when both teams are good. And the Leafs fans who live in Ottawa would prefer that Ottawa keeps an NHL team.

And yeah, like everyone else here I'm f***ing pissed. We've legit seen 4 HoF homegrown players (except Chara if you want to get technical) driven away by Melnyk in the last 13 years (Hossa, Chara, Alfredsson, Karlsson). And that excludes Spezza who was also driven away. It's one gut punch after another. And the rebuild is ********. They've added a bunch of low-ceiling young guys and don't even have their f***ing first round pick this year. And Melnyk has admitted that they're running a bare bones scouting staff and front office staff. This isn't going to get better. We're at the point where things are so toxic that the team's future in Ottawa is uncertain as long as Eugene Melnyk owns the team.
