  1. Who was the last Jays reliever that was this fun to watch? BJ Ryan?
  2. I've been annoyed all game listening to Dan and Joe act like he's some top prospect ready to make a huge splash
  3. Nice to have Varsho back and replace one of the many, many slap hitters in the lineup
  4. The most annoying posters on this forum, by far, are the 2-3 dipshits who make fun of people for being optimistic about their favourite baseball team and tag them into threads after losses.
  5. It's honestly difficult to see the path forward here. 74 wins last year. And this year's team might actually be worse. We're at a -35 run differential and its still April. The rebuild should have started last summer, but it didn't and we're digging ourselves into a massive hole. Look at the damage that has been done trying to "compete": - Targeted high-minors MLB talent with deadline deals last year instead of low minors lottery ticket types. Only they completely botched it and didn't actually find anything that helps the MLB team. Last year's haul of MLB ready talent have provided -0.4 fWAR this season. - Absurd extension for Vlad instead of trading him for pieces that could help rebuild. - Locked into a 19.3M luxury tax hit through 2029 for a slap-hitting 2B who looks like an all-glove 2-win player, which you can basically sign for cheap every offseason. - 58M extension for a fat catcher who can't hit - 92M contract for Santander, who looks like a long shot to reach 2 WAR in year one of the deal. And now they're talking about a long term extension for a SS who hasn't hit a homerun in almost a full calendar year. This team is completely lost in the wilderness. They have no direction, and might be a bottom-5 managed team in baseball.
  6. Imagine the humiliation of being Mike Elias
  7. Kyle Gibson has given up 5 HRs in 1.1 innings in his Orioles debut
  8. We're 2 days from May and the Orioles are 10-17. Their SPs have given them 0.0 fWAR and have a 5.83 ERA. Their K/9 is 6,17, by far the worst in the league. Mike Elias should be immediately fired. Dude thought he was the smartest guy in the room and could coast to the playoffs while using his big brain to assemble a pitching staff with no long-term risk or cost of prospect capital.
  9. I just realized that Bo's last homerun was on May 27, 2024.
  10. Carrasco might be the biggest gas can currently holding a rotation spot for a team not based in Baltimore. This should be an easy W. The team scores 6 runs on 18 hits in a 6-4 win.
  11. It would be completely pointless - yet another sign of this being a rudderless ship. At this point he's not a remarkable or rare talent, and there's 0 reason to sink 300M or whatever into him heading into a rebuild.
  12. The team is going to need to be very, very confident they know where his power has gone before committing to him long term. In 452 PA the last two years he has 4 homeruns, a 0.334 SLG, and a wRC+ of 80.
  13. Jeff Hoffman might legit be the team's MVP so far
  14. At least the Orioles just lost again
  15. Why not try a breaking ball there to Alvarez?
  16. Watching this team isn't fun at all right now. Every single game the bottom 5 hitters in the lineup aren't even MLB caliber hitters. And that doesn't include Santander and Gimenez, who are also complete black holes.
  17. I'm not seeing the solid rotation. I think it's going to be a major problem this season. Gausman - probably a 3 WAR SP2? Bassitt - 2-3 WAR SP2-3 Francis - who knows? Probably a good 5th starter Berrios - scratching and clawing to hang on as a 5th starter 5th starter - I don't even know who's going to be used here. Rodriguez, Lucas and Bloss have all been terrible and Scherzer is dead. This rotation is a bunch of old dudes hanging on for dear life, and then a few young guys that don't seem very good. God forbid Gausman or Bassitt go down.
  18. And the problem with that is that the team doesn't look primed to contend in the next few years anyway. What's the point of eating a bunch of bad years on the end of a deal when the team is an 80-win also-ran for the best years at the front?
  19. Orioles ace Dean Kremer has given up 5 runs in 5 innings to Washington, his ERA is up to 6.93, and the team is about to fall 4 games under 0.500. Life is good as an Orioles superhater.
  20. If Bo and Vlad keep doing more or less what they've been doing, they're going to end up with fine offensive seasons. The glaring red flags right now are Kirk/Gimenez/Santander. These three guys are on long-term contracts and were supposed to add at least league average depth to the lineup (more in Satander's case). If you have Bo and Vlad going well, then a 125 wRC+ Santander and a 100 wRC+ Kirk and Gimenez, you can squint and see a team that will challenge for a WC spot. If Santander is doing whatever it is he's currently doing, Gimenez is actually an 80-90 wRC+ slap-hitting all-glove 2B and Kirk never actually finds the power he showed before 2023, then this offense is in serious trouble. A month in and its been the latter - the team is getting nothing at all from the supporting cast on offense. Which isn't really a surprise.
  21. I'm actively rooting against the A's, because John Fisher deserves failure
  22. Didn't start him in one, and in the other I was miles behind in the three rate cats and wanted to lock down Ks
  23. Not really sure why they cut it off on April 9th because before today's 0-5 he was slashing 180/250/213 all of April, for a 39 wRC+. Nice little player, but he's still riding a 5-game heater in March to the cleanup spot.
