  1. I remember fondly the days (5 days ago) when we were talking about how the only enjoyable part of watching this team was Garcia and Hoffman locking s*** down in the late innings. Of course even that small joy has been taken from us.
  2. Walking Schanuel to load the bases with 1 out seems dumb
  3. This prompted me to look at the standings. The Orioles are 13-21 and -63. The only team with a worse run differential is the Rockies. -63!
  4. Remember when the Dodgers gave Conforto 17M and everyone said it made no sense? Well he’s at -0.5 WAR and a butcher in the outfield everyday, and it still makes no sense.
  5. 4% BB rate 23% K-rate and 0.294 xwOBA are all pretty much in line with his entire Detroit tenure. I feel like 99% of the "this player's recent hot strike might be legit because of swing/approach change" articles are just slop written because content needs to be pumped out, and the player is back to their old self within a month.
  6. Not sure about your other questions, but Topps Heritage has both current and former players. What Heritage does is release cards in the style of past sets. So 2025 Heritage has the design of 1976 Topps.
  7. Jeff Hoffman is 5th in all of baseballl (batters and pitchers) with 1.68 WPA. He's basically earned his 2025 salary already.
  8. So, if the season ended today Hoffman would be on multiple CY ballots.
  9. Based only on his on-field accomplishments, I think he should be in the HoF. Going to be close to 400 saves, ERA in the mid 2s, 1300+ strikeouts despite never starting a game, and just unique dominance that people who watched him will never forget.
  10. I haven't thought of Santos in many years. Didn't he come with like a 5 year contract that had some options, and we all thought we had a long term elite closer?
  11. Who was the last Jays reliever that was this fun to watch? BJ Ryan?
  12. I've been annoyed all game listening to Dan and Joe act like he's some top prospect ready to make a huge splash
  13. Nice to have Varsho back and replace one of the many, many slap hitters in the lineup
  14. The most annoying posters on this forum, by far, are the 2-3 dipshits who make fun of people for being optimistic about their favourite baseball team and tag them into threads after losses.
  15. It's honestly difficult to see the path forward here. 74 wins last year. And this year's team might actually be worse. We're at a -35 run differential and its still April. The rebuild should have started last summer, but it didn't and we're digging ourselves into a massive hole. Look at the damage that has been done trying to "compete": - Targeted high-minors MLB talent with deadline deals last year instead of low minors lottery ticket types. Only they completely botched it and didn't actually find anything that helps the MLB team. Last year's haul of MLB ready talent have provided -0.4 fWAR this season. - Absurd extension for Vlad instead of trading him for pieces that could help rebuild. - Locked into a 19.3M luxury tax hit through 2029 for a slap-hitting 2B who looks like an all-glove 2-win player, which you can basically sign for cheap every offseason. - 58M extension for a fat catcher who can't hit - 92M contract for Santander, who looks like a long shot to reach 2 WAR in year one of the deal. And now they're talking about a long term extension for a SS who hasn't hit a homerun in almost a full calendar year. This team is completely lost in the wilderness. They have no direction, and might be a bottom-5 managed team in baseball.
  16. Imagine the humiliation of being Mike Elias
  17. Kyle Gibson has given up 5 HRs in 1.1 innings in his Orioles debut
  18. We're 2 days from May and the Orioles are 10-17. Their SPs have given them 0.0 fWAR and have a 5.83 ERA. Their K/9 is 6,17, by far the worst in the league. Mike Elias should be immediately fired. Dude thought he was the smartest guy in the room and could coast to the playoffs while using his big brain to assemble a pitching staff with no long-term risk or cost of prospect capital.
  19. I just realized that Bo's last homerun was on May 27, 2024.
  20. Carrasco might be the biggest gas can currently holding a rotation spot for a team not based in Baltimore. This should be an easy W. The team scores 6 runs on 18 hits in a 6-4 win.
