    Shannon Stewart was hitting leadoff for the Jays when I first started really getting into baseball. Looking over his career stats, happy to see he was as good as I remembered. 4 3+ WAR seasons here, including a 5-WAR season in 2000. Dude could hit.

    The win curve point is important, and often glossed over or omitted entirely when people write about the situation. The reality is that the outlook for the team looks bleak for 3-5 years, beginning with what would be year 1 of Vlad’s new deal.

    Yeah. Like, it’s objectively funny that the Yankees will be relying on Stroman and Carrasco from day 1, have Paul Goldschmidt pencilled in for 600 PA, and literally didn’t bother acquiring a 3B. And it’s funny regardless of how many games the jays win.

    Dude its 2025 and their opening day starter is Carlos Rodon, Marcus Stroman is their 3rd starter, and there's a real chance they actually use Carlos Carrasco as their 5th starter. It's OK to just enjoy the upcoming 82-win season .

    The Yankees kind of suck. Running a rotation of Fried, Rodon, Stroman, Warren, and.... Carrasco? Bullpen is super thin after Williams and Weaver. No 3B. 40-year old Paul Goldscmidt at 1B. Paper thin bench. Not clear that Dominguez is any good and there's no depth after him in the OF.

    Grayson Rodriguez will start the year on the IL with an elbow injury and Andrew Kittredge will be out multiple months. Orioles hater crew is eating well tonight. Baltimore's rotation to open the season will be Eflin, Morton, Kremer, Sugano, and Albert Suarez, which is f***ing hilarious.

    I thought that too, but it's actually hard to rember other teams who have had 3 top-15 ish position player prospects at the same time.

    I'm not sure there are really fans of the front office. I think the closest you'll find is people who think Shapiro is good at what he's supposed to and are ambivalent about Ross Atkins. But yeah - I mostly agree with your last paragraph. It feels like this is coming to a head one way or another. The team probably isn't good enough to make the playoffs so he probably gets fired. On the off chance the team wins 90+ and goes on a bit of a run, maybe he gets to stick around, but if that happens a bunch of the things he did have probably worked out and the team would have won 89+ for the 4th time in 5 years, so maybe it wouldn't actually be the end of the world.

    This season is basically no-lose for the people who really want Atkins gone. Either the team makes the playoffs of he's fired. I'm betting on fired.

    It's happened twice now that Bobby starts saying something and then just stops mid-sentence, and doesn't finish even if given time by his partner. And for some reason his partner refers to him as Bobby V. Not Bobby - Bobby V. Every time he addresses him.
