  1. The Yankees have been over 0.500 every year since 1992. They’ve made the playoffs four years running, with two 100-win seasons in those years. Their fans have witnessed one of the greatest sustained runs of winning baseball ever, and don’t even remotely appreciate it.
  2. I'm probably dropping Quintana this weekend unless someone wants him for a pick upgrade.
  3. I don’t. I want to see less Chaz Roes and Felix Penas.
  4. Emmanuel Clase is throwing a 100 mph cutter right now.
  5. This is why I hated the roster expansion to 26. It exacerbated the problem, and there was no reason for it except throwing a bone to the union. Nobody finds it fun watching a parade of relievers come in throwing 97 with a sider for three hitters each.
  6. Honestly, the heart of the steroid era was a fun game to watch. In 1998 you had juiced up freakhows hitting 70 homers and putting up crazy power numbers, but you also had about 1000 more total stolen bases than we currently have today, with 10 different guys stealing 40+ bags. There was a huge range of player types, ranging from Mark McGwire to Tony Gwynn and Eric Young, and everything in between. You had the same variety in pitching: a few elite arms and gaudy K/9 rates of 10-12 (Big Unit, Schilling, Clemens etc...) but there were 10 or 20 guys who put up league average 175-225 IP seasons with fewer than 6 K/9. And complete games were still a thing. I feel like we have a narrower distribution of player types now, as we've drifted towards most hitters being three true outcome power hitters, and very few pitchers trying to induce weak contact early in counts. I just want to see a wider variety of skill sets doing a wider variety of things.
  7. Carlos Rodon is perfect through 8.
  8. Underrated annoyance: Fangraph's live update dashboard being broken.
  9. I've never pitched, but I was wondering this too. I feel like if you've been honing a breaking pitch for 15-20 years, it's not easy to just back it up by a foot. I could be 100% wrong though.
  10. I really hope they don't move the bases. For reasons I can't quite articulate, moving the mound back/forward or up/down as needed seems like acceptable tinkering, but all of that should happen inside the 90-foot square of the infield.
  11. League-wide K/9 is creeping up on 9.5. There are 24 qualified starters with a K/9 over 10. There are 6 with a K/9 over 14. Nobody wants a f***ing 25% league-wide K/rate. They need to address it.
  12. Oblique strain isn’t great news. Could be several weeks.
  13. Not to mention their rotation of between 3 and 5 aces.
  14. Just posting nonsense and generally trolling the GDT.
  15. Anyone else watching Shane Bieber absolutely carve the White Sox up?
  16. He’ll be 32 next season. 6/180 seems to be in the ballpark?
  17. Oh, Charlie is definitely making these decisions based on 2021 results.
  18. I don't think you make these decisions based on who's been better over the last 10-15 PA.
  19. So Charlie is pretty confident that both Panik and Palacios are better hitters than Kirk?
  20. This site needs a downvote button.
  21. Tyler Glasnow is doing unspeakable things to the poor Texas lineup.
  22. I want to make a point of actually having a GDT for every game this year instead of slacking off and missing a bunch. You guys need to beat me to the punch.
  23. They’re concerned about rioting.
