  1. Link? Does it break it down by rule?
  2. I recently read 3 nights in August, about Tony La Russa. The author kept using wins as a measure of pitcher quality. As in "Darryl Kile was a 19-win starter in Houston, but wasn't even a 0.500 pitcher in Colorado. La Russa knew he still had it in him to be a 15-20 win pitcher". It was not a good book.
  3. 3 and 8 are no-brainers.
  4. I don't think they should limit the number of pitchers specifically, but 26-man rosters are absurd. Stupid concession to the PA in exchange for fixing the stupid expanded September rosters.
  5. A word of advice: you should look up the definition of BABIP before using it again.
  6. I'm not sure what's more pathetic: Odor hitting 4th in their lineup, or the fact that nobody hitting lower has really been better than him, with the possible exception of Urshela.
  7. Will be watching Ohtani. I’ve seen his first two starts, and he just looks rusty. Top tier stuff, but no command. He hasn’t pitched consistently in years and it shows. If he can settle in this year, he could put up one of the most fun seasons ever.
  8. I’ve actually always thought regular season record was the better tiebreaker than H2H. I know Yahoo made it convention to have H2H as the first tie-break, but I like that regular season record rewards season-long success.
  9. It's f***ing insane. He's out there tonight throwing 101 in the 7th with a wipeout slider, an unhittable 90 mph change, and pinpoint command of all three pitches. And he's looked like that three starts in a row. Is prime Pedro the last pitcher who looked this dominant?
  10. Current Jacob deGrom is the best pitcher I've ever seen.
  11. Did they pull him out of concern he might be hurt? Left up 3-0 with only 67 pitches.
  12. Hopefully they don't screw this up with a work stoppage next season. They need to crank out a new CBA, and do it without months of s*** slinging in the media.

It really does seem like a healthy Andersen is the guy you want in the playoffs. He's shown the ability to be very, very good for long stretches in the past.

Is Andersen going to be ready for the playoffs? Because the Campbell/Rittich tandem is looking pretty f***ing shaky.
  15. Everything about Matz has looked legit so far: results have been good, no red flags under the hood, and he's just looked good. If the team is talking extension with one of him or Ray, I take Matz every time.
  16. I don't even know what you call it when a guy just tosses up up there repeatedly at 60ish without really trying to amp it up.
  17. Not often your ratios are nuked before noon on a Monday.
  18. He'll get in, and I think he deserves it. 9th all-time in catcher fWAR, played a starting role on two championships, played his entire career with the same org, and generally seems to be an awesome guy.
  19. Any rebuilding teams want to take a flier on Leody Taveras? I thought he could help me this year as a 4th OF, and he has decidedly not done that yet. Not looking for a ton, but I think he has a bit of value. Would move him for a pick upgrade, or rosterable OF.
  20. I’ve been hoping the Reds could win a WS with him contributing meaningfully, but that’s probably not happening. But in a world where Harold Baines is in, you have to think he has a chance.
  21. Baseball is such a weird sport. Mendick generated like 4 swinging strikes in one inning throwing a 60 mph fastball.
  22. OK guys, let's move on now. Everyone has said their piece. If you have a burning desire to debate covid, there are places better suited than a baseball forum to do it. I'm leaving everything above this for now, but anything after it will be removed.
  23. Now Danny Mendick pitching and sitting 60.
