What I was getting at and didn't word well is that I think we're going to be left with an unsatisfying outcome. I'm no lawyer, but it seems like an odd situation in that we know that he did what she's accusing him of, and now its about trying to determine things like intent and consent in the aftermath. I think the most likely outcome here is that the allegations (that he hit her and choked her unconscious) are true, but that he's not found legally guilty of a crime. Different people will have different opinions on what this says about him.
