  1. We just see it differently. I like seeing top seeds win.
  2. That's kind of my point. You cheapen an 82 (or 162) game season when you expand the size of the playoff pool. I'd rather see a small amount of teams that have proven that they're elite over a full season than give half the league a chance to go on a run in the playoffs and have mediocre teams winning championships.
  3. I'm pretty scared that they're going to be inclined to go in that direction when they see how even one extra WC spot has increased interest late in the season in multiple cities. Teams like New York, Toronto, Cleveland, and Seattle would be playing out the schedule at this point in past, but are now in the thick of a playoff chase. That's a quarter of the league! I hope it stops here though. The NHL has turned itself into an absolute farce trying to maximize revenues across the league until the season is over.
  4. The Royals are weird. They do a lot of pretty decent things, but then they make decisions like Trading Myers for Shields and Davis, giving Melky away, or giving Jeff Francoeur a 3-year extension.
  5. It would sell tickets and keep interest up. It's likely only a matter of time before the playoffs expand again, for exactly that reason. Artifical parity is great for revenues.
  6. Gordon > Trout. Just look at the WAR.
  7. It's funny because you can see it in his roster construction.
  8. "Blengino said Zduriencik became obsessed with power hitters, ignoring defense, baserunning and roster construction. He said the GM also dismissed the importance of evaluating players within the context of their contract values. Zduriencik then made him “look like an ass” in front of baseball operations brass in spring training 2012 after Blengino gave a presentation on possible benefits from advances in computerized hitting data. “He nitpicked about font sizes and column widths,” Blengino said. “He did what he always does and made fun of something he couldn’t understand.”"
  9. Yeah. This article is amazing, lol: http://seattletimes.com/html/mariners/2022420240_mariners08xml.html
  10. Yeah, and he's apparently kind of a bag of dicks. Finishing with 86 wins or whatever isn't that impressive.
  11. Despite a declining fastball velocity too. Guy is just ridiculous.
  12. Not everything is black and white. Bad players make good plays, bad GMs make good moves etc... Jack Z did a great job with Iwakuma.
  13. Say what you want about Jack Z, but he absolutely nailed the Kuma signing and subsequent extension.
  14. Seattle has a $7 million option on Kuma.
  15. MLB kind of feels a bit like the NHL with this 2nd WC in that the league's mediocre teams get to experience playoff pushes late into the season. Not really a fan.
  16. You're legit annoying now.
  17. Hopefully Richards doesn't go full Derrick Holland.
  18. Getting Lucroy from TRM for nothing basically cancels out giving Donaldson to TRM for nothing? Speaking of which, is TRM stil alive?
  19. A year from now Mesoraco is probably back in the pack of like 15 interchangeable guys behind Posey, Gattis, and Lucroy.
  20. Agreed completely. I'm not sure what everyone thinks AA is going to do with Buehrle's $19 million if he trades him.
  21. George Dubya right down the middle like a boss.
  22. Catchers are like pitchers, but worse. Would not invest in.
  23. 4.09 xFIP as a reliever this year. McGowan sucks.
  24. Holy s***, ROS SLG projections for Bogaerts: ZiPS = 0.394 Steamer = 0.386 My worst player is projected to slug 10-20 points higher than my team's collective slugging % 20 weeks into the season. f*** this season so much.
