  1. Might as well, he is a joke and I doubt at this point he has any value.
  2. AA probably want's to get through the next 2-3 years without being fired.
  3. I really hope AA pulls something out of nowhere and trades JPA. Thole for the time being at C is a step up.
  4. Some people were, not me. If AA goes the trade route then we need a significant arm, not more junk.
  5. They might be the first to go.
  6. Seems about right.
  7. I don't disagree, but what is AA going to do? He has to make a play either before the deadline or this winter.
  8. For me its more of a case of what I expect to happen than what I want to see happen. AA will deal off more prospects and give this all he can to get this team into the post season this year or next, otherwise he knows his job will be lost.
  9. Yeah I can see a key prospect being moved for Peavy. For what he costs financially he is a bargain at that price so its not just going to be taking on his salary. We all know things don't look good long-term unless AA has a ton of luck with prospects panning out. That's not the point here though, AA has to keep pushing forward and get this team into contention this season or next otherwise 2014 might be his last year as GM.
  10. No one knows, your right. But does rogers really care about winning or making money? Attendance is up, another big name or two and they will ride that into significant ticket sales heading into 2014. Where there is optimism, there is hope and people will eat that s*** up. As long as Rogers thinks they will benefit financially from adding to payroll they will. Eventually this team will have to win to sustain this success, but right now, they can still sell the idea of a contender for next season by showing they will keep spending.
  11. I wouldn't be surprised in the least if Peavy turns out to be the guy AA trades for. He would fit in well, give this team a significant boost and still be around next season when we would still need him.
  12. I am in that same boat. I think people are underestimating how much money Rogers could be making with this team with all things considered. The fact that Rogers owns the team, stadium, networks that air the games and have a stranglehold on the telecommunications market, this team is a f***ing gold mine for them. I would be surprised if we don't see a payroll around the $150M mark for 2014. Heck I would be surprised if AA doesn't take on another big contract before the deadline.
  13. This team is all in and they will push forward. The question isn't 'if' they make a big trade, the question is for 'who' will it be.
  14. No one really knows what will happen, but I have a hard time believing AA made all these deals in the winter and no one took into account that the payroll would rise and likely still require a bump for additional needs. He talks about a 3 year window for contention and if that's the case then it would be absolutely ridiculous for him not to know that this teams payroll will need to be at least around $150M for 2014.
  15. Yup, its funny how many people think this team can't spend more money. It's not a matter if they can, its more a matter of how much more Rogers thinks they can make by spending more and based on the spike in attendance and solid TV ratings, I say Rogers is going to take this payroll to the next level.
  16. I wouldn't be opposed to trying out Cecil in the rotation, maybe have him piggy back Redmond's start since we all probably know how that will go.
  17. It makes too much sense.
  18. This team probably needs to win about 85 games and they will spin it as though this team is legit citing the 10-21 start.
  19. Ah f***, just saw the thread about Redmond as the tentative starter for Sunday.
  20. What are the chances Stroman gets the call next?
  21. I for sure thought he would pull him for the Cabrera AB. As soon as I realized he was going to let him pitch to Cabrera I all but assumed it would be a HR and it was. I still can't believe Gibby left him in for that AB.
  22. I'm really not sure why people are surprised there is more money available? I have been saying it for a while but most seemed to think it wasn't even a possibility. This team is doing well rating and attendance wise and even with their s***** start and overall pathetic season in terms of initial expectations, fans are still supporting this team. This is an enormous marketing tool at Rogers disposal. They will continue to push forward, raise payroll and trade prospects. Another big acquisition and they probably see another jump in attendance/ratings for 2014.
