  1. Right. And Lars and James are control freaks too and it would have all come to blows on multiple occasional I'm sure. Yeah, it was probably never going to work.
  2. Yeah I would ave thought they'd commit to like 5 years or more. In any case, I hope it sticks.
  3. In related news, this year also set records for attendance in AAA Buffalo. Nice! Sorry to thread jack - was going to post this separately then saw your thread and it fit well with this.
  4. He's definitely starting to win me back as a fan
  5. I, for one, still want to keep Morrow. That f***er owes us a no-hitter and a 20 win season. (Kidding, he doesn't owe us squat, but the last two seasons I felt he was poised for that massive breakout killer season and I don't want it to happen somewhere else) What a frustrating player to be a big fan of. He's like the Lamborghini that thrills you when it's working but spends 80% of the time in the shop getting worked on. (No, I don't own one of those)
  6. I know what you mean, it's a tricky situation. You just hate to see him walk for nothing after trading away so much to get him. And the ceiling is so high... A 1 year deal at 14M doesn't pose any risk beyond 2014. And having a THIRD first round draft pick (if he then signs elsewhere) would be awfully nice.
  7. KSaw: I'll go first using a few thoughts I added to other threads. Please add your own ideas but without adding a gazillion dollars in spending. - Pick up Lind's option - Trade Lind and $500k to Pittsburgh for Nick Kingham Sounds good - Trade Drabek and Arencibia to Arizona for Chris Owings No chance we can do better? Prob not... Just glad JPA is gone - Sign Carlos Beltran (2-year/ $24MM + $12MM option/ $2.5MM buyout) No. He won't come play here, might as well forget it. Plus I'm good with Melky and Rajai for one more year while the kids develop. - Sign Carlos Ruiz (3-year/ $22MM) Yes, definitely. Probably the best catcher we can actually get. The true elites (Yadi, Posey, Mauer) aren't leaving their teams any time soon - Qualify and sign Josh Johnson Qualify yes. Not sure if I hope he accepts or not. - Pick up DeRosa's option OK - Sign Jonathan Sanchez to minor league deal - Sign Freddy Sanchez to minor league deal Good depth but we may already have enough in the rehabbing guys. No, wait, you can never have enough. Go ahead. - Sign Gavin Floyd (1-year: $6.5 MM + 2 vested options at $11.5 MM based on 180 IP/ year) Here's where I think we should aim higher. We probably don't have a single legit, top line #1 starter on this team next year. Aim higher. Beg Rogers for the $ to pry an overpriced stud from a team that wants out of a contract with 1-2 years left. Less costly in prospects and you're not trapped in a long term deal. Need to figure out who I go after though... Edit: David Price. There. I said it. Go ahead and rip it.
  8. Back on topic, sorry! Re. Halladay and Harvey. http://espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/story/_/id/9609916/matt-harvey-new-york-mets-talked-roy-halladay-philadelphia-phillies-elbow-tear http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/writer/danny-knobler/23367709/halladay-talks-to-harvey-provides-a-bit-of-hope
  9. I have often wondered what it would have been like if both James Hetfield and Dave Mustaine had stayed in Metallica. They might have become the best supergroup since Zeppelin. Or ever. Or, it might have been a colossal disaster with one or two albums produced then gone down in flames. I think more likely the latter but who knows...
  10. Yes he is. Killer musician. Terrible singer. Egomaniac and jealous of Metallica's success. I saw them in Moncton with Slayer 2-3 years ago.
  11. Right. He became a knuckleballer because he sucked.
  12. You think the coaching staff is responsible for the rotten 2/3 of a season Bonifacio had here?
  13. What what what??? Rajai gets on base more (recent 10 game sample size notwhithstanding), is every bit as good of a base stealer, hits lefties REALLY well, and isn't the defensive liability that Boni is in the outfield. Boni's "ability" to play 2B is meaningless cause he sucks at it. We should keep Rajai for another year until we've decided if Gose is the next Otis Nixon or the next Rajai Davis.
  14. And completely unsustainable It's OK We're better off without him
  15. I like your posts a lot. Glad you're contributing again. (zero sarcasm)
  16. Not the least bit surprised hence "of course" Also, it's pretty much a given that Bonifacio will absolutely rob a game from us in the upcoming series against the Royals. It's what happens. I still recall Eric Thames making probably the best defensive play of his life (he hasn't that many...) against us right after we traded him to Seattle.
  17. My thoughts exactly. LOL
  18. Ans if they get better year after year they might be able to sustain to too.
  19. Agree NJH But they should also probably rebuild Brandon Morrow with titanium in every moving body part.
