  1. Sure. No one expects him to keep up this offense. But he looks so baseball savvy and smooth at 2B. Like you say, we're not used to that.
  2. Yes. Me too. I was pronouncing it wrong until tonight when I heard Wilner get all punny and called him a "goin concern".
  3. Yep. That's what used to let him pitch 240 innings a year.
  4. Oh, and when did Boni learn to bunt? Last week???
  5. God. Buerhle is a mule and could probably throw 150 pitches with no ill effect.
  6. No Ricky: Bluejays.com: Toronto's GM remained noncommittal when asked if Romero is a candidate for a callup in September. Instead, Anthopoulos talked about the need for a third catcher and the return of injured pitchers Steve Delabar and Dustin McGowan. Right-handers Drew Hutchison and Kyle Drabek also are expected to return, and whether anyone else makes the cut depends on the amount of available innings.
  7. Delabar rehabbing in GCL: http://toronto.bluejays.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20130828&content_id=58801270&notebook_id=58802726&vkey=notebook_tor&c_id=tor
  8. Could we... . Could we... see Goins as our full time 2B next year?
  9. LOL both at Morris' comment and you asking who the f*** is the idiot calling the game.
  10. After his first month it sure is
  11. Wilner and Hayhurst upset with fans for booing Emilio Bonifacio
  12. Also returning Bautista and Rasmus though
  13. Orioles Acquire Mike Morse For Xavier Avery by Steve Adams, Aug 30 at 12:48 PM CST 12:48pm: The Orioles are sending outfield prospect Xavier Avery to the Mariners, according to Peter Gammons of the MLB Network (on Twitter). 12:35pm: The Orioles have acquired Mike Morse from the Mariners, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports. Heyman adds that the Mariners will receive a prospect in exchange (Twitter links).
  14. s***! Orioles got Morse after all...
  15. The Dodgers are the only team that can seemingly to afford to have too many decent starting pitchers and accept that 2-3 may be on the DL or suspended at any given time. And but DAMN Kershaw has been good.
  16. That's possible actually. Does he want to be here and try again on a 1 year deal? I hope so. Because also, the "draft pick compensation" tag will really limit his attractiveness to teams this off season if he is given a QO and declines (see Lohse, Kyle). Especially for a guy with such a terrible reliability record. It might just allow AA to get him to agree to a 1-2 year deal at less than usual market value. If so, go for it. You still might get a draft pick in another year or two if he leaves then. And if he's good we have some value for once. The more I think about it, the more that's what I want. JJ on a 1 year deal at well under 14M, with a vesting option for a second year if he reaches an innings threshold or something. Do it Alex.
  17. Agree. We gave up a lot to get him and even if he's only decent next year I can handle 14M because I don't know who else we can get via free agency on a short term deal. If some other GM decides to gamble and give him a 2-3 year deal, then we have three first round picks.
  18. It seems like teams aren't giving up much for these late inning relievers. I can sort of see why AA couldn't make a deal he liked for Oliver/Janssen etc.
  19. I wish it was still Jose Bautista...
  20. Love this tweet. LOL. Guy cracks me up all the time.
  21. Omar was pretty incredible back in the day too
  22. Oh, and no supergroup will evolve. 2012: http://loudwire.com/dave-mustaine-apologizes-to-james-hetfield-for-megadeth-metallica-supergroup-comments/ After Metallica frontman James Hetfield recently called Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine a ‘big mouth’ for publicly stating that he’d like to form a Metallica / Megadeth supergroup, Mustaine has now apologized to Hetfield, promising that he’ll never speak of the subject again. Following his messy exit from Metallica in the ’80s, Mustaine had a longstanding feud with his former band. All parties seemed to have patched things up with the series of recent ‘Big 4′ shows that saw Metallica and Megadeth sharing a bill with Slayer and Anthrax. In fact, Mustaine joined Metallica onstage in December 2011 during one of their 30th anniversary shows in San Francisco. The good vibes led Mustaine to declare that he’d like to form a supergroup with Hetfield, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich and Megadeth bassist Dave Ellefson. However, in a recent interview, Hetfield suggested that Mustaine has a ‘big mouth’ and that all that talk about a supergroup was ‘crazy.’ After seeing Hetfield’s comments, Mustaine texted the Metallica frontman to apologize, telling Artisan News in a video interview: “I already sent [James] a text message and said I apologized to him for saying that and that I won’t ever mention it again … I guess my whole thing was I just wanted them to know that I loved them and that I missed them and I enjoyed playing with them. If that’s not mutual, then I understand. I still respect him, and I still care about the guy. If he doesn’t wanna play [with me] anymore, that’s cool. If he doesn’t like the idea of what I said, that’s OK, too. It wasn’t like I said it was gonna happen, it was something that I kind of wished would happen. But you know, it’s OK now, since it doesn’t seem like it’s gonna happen. And you know what?! It’s off my bucket list.” Mustaine also admits that making his desire for a supergroup public was a mistake: “The thing is that I probably shouldn’t have said stuff like that, ’cause, I guess, to some people, they may think that I’m trying to use that as a way to get publicity, so I can see where there would be some feelings about it, and that wasn’t my intention.”
  23. Yup. Kirk fits well cause he just goes with the flow. And Cliff Burton was too much of a freak to care. When he died, Jason was just so happy to play with his idols that he'd just fit in.
