  1. It was 2/22
  2. I'd give a go at Niemann for sure.
  3. Can't argue with that.
  4. Maybe the obsession with drafting pitchers isn't such a bad idea for us. Much easier to convince a power hitter to come to a good hitting park than a pitcher to come here.
  5. Very very well done article! That is extremely high quality.
  6. The question we should be asking is whether they do so because of underlying philosophy or necessity. I'm not sure history suggests this to be likely, as we've seen a number of GM candidates move to other teams that were supposed to bring these schools of thought and never seemed to follow through. The one organization I would be comfortable in saying that they are different is the Cards.
  7. Hughes is a guy I might have loved to take a chance on for 1 year or 1 + option, but a 3 year deal at 8 per is insane.
  8. AA had better be taking notice and make sure he keeps Sanchez and Stroman at all costs.
  9. Yikes, 3 years / 24M???
  10. So ... you're whining about whining?
  11. Burch Smith could be rather interesting if the cost was a reliever.
  12. And JFaS and BB just got referenced in Nicholson-Smith's article on Sportsnet! http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/blue-jays-notebook-knuckleball-hangover/
  13. Breaking Blue got linked in a MLBTR post http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/11/baseball-blogs-weigh-in-.html
  14. Well, Shark and Bailey don't have much longer until FA, so I don't know if I care about their age so much unless we can extend them. I like both as targets though in general.
  15. Yeah, push come to shove I think I would do it too. First I'd try to get someone like Ogando as well though.
  16. "Blessed are those who expect nothing, for they shall never be disappointed"
  17. It's really an interesting question. Do you consider the higher prospect to be the guy with the higher ceiling if everything clicks, or the guy who will likely produce best over their career? Stroman's good stuff combined with his makeup and especially command are tough to ignore, but so is the elite stuff of Sanchez if he can harness it.
  18. No harm in claiming him. Let him and Thole catch Dickey in the spring. If he can handle it, DFA Thole. If not, he can be reclaimed by the Astros.
  19. I'd take him in a heat beat for secondary prospects or a reliever. I wouldn't give up Sanchez or Stroman though.
  20. I'd just like to say that some kind of live blog of the event on the BB site would be kind of cool. Are you taking those pictures yourself, or getting them from somewhere?
  21. Buehrle's contract may in fact be looking half decent, forget moveable.
  22. Personally I much prefer the CFL style game, but there's no question there's more talent in the NFL. I'm not a big football fan either way though.
  23. I think you're overvaluing Marisnick, but time will tell. Alvarez hurt to lose, but I got a sense that he was refusing to make any adjustments and the coaching staff had it with him (don't know for sure, just my observations). We all know Yunel was traded for other reasons, and may very well have been released otherwise.
  24. It would be easier to determine if you knew what you could get for those players separately. I'm guessing some of those players might get you decent returns by themselves that combined could be more valuable than Fernandez who you'd be buying astronomically high on.
