  1. The Rays also got Tissenbaum thrown in. They killed it with this trade. Absolute robbery imo.
  2. Btw, love that bolded "e" in Jimenez JFaS. Wonder if anyone else noticed it
  3. I really like Jimenez, and think he's got a chance to really bust out. Best upside out of all the remaining names imo, and even if he doesn't he'll at least eat innings. I'd probably equate Garza and Burnett. Not sure what is up with Yoon, but the fact there's been so little mentioned makes me think he could come fairly cheap (which would make him a non-disaster if he had to switch to the pen). Niemann could be the bargain name of the off-season imo. Santana scares me in RC, but he is a legit arm. Capuano and Arroyo are both probably a small upgrade over the kids for next year. I'm not sure about Hanson, but his velocity is fine which makes me think he'd be a prime candidate for Walker to work with on a 2-seamer and sinker.
  4. I'm going to be scared if you change your avatar to a Yankee logo...
  5. The results in hindsight don't change the validity of the opinion prior to them. No reason to backtrack. The Rangers took a huge risk and it paid off for them, but it was a lot of money to gamble and could easily have blown up in their faces. This gamble by the Yankees (on a pitcher most people feel is inferior to Darvish), is even bigger. If he puts up the higher end of the (reasonable) numbers people should expect, then he's probably being paid fairly. If he doesn't, that contract could almost be worse for them than the A-Rod one is now.
  6. I'm not sure if a few of these guys have signed or not yet, but I think my order would be Jimenez Garza Burnett Niemann Santana Yoon Capuano Arroyo Hanson
  7. I love that not a single person voted yes! I also hate that the Yankees got him, because now that they're screwed in getting under the cap they'll likely sign one or two more pitchers too.
  8. Looks like the Rays (predictably) were very interested. 5 player deal, Alex Torres as part going the other way.
  9. I had finally forgotten about that idiotic stat you bastard.

The Spanky kiss of death. I think he deserves a FatCow style title if they blow it...
  11. I didn't see that conclusion mentioned. Plus, Romero's innings increase was in line with what teams tend to do now. His innings were built up in the minors due to some struggles.
  12. I think I'd go with Bogaerts and Walker as well. Too many questions (for fantasy) in Rendon, and Taijuan probably won't perform significantly worse than Corbin next year and has a great chance of being better later. Paxton I think has to be behind both of them.
  13. Fine. He's just using someone else's common sense!
  14. Of course as I say that MLBTR indicates that he may insist that the physical from last month be used and take until Friday...
  15. I would think they'd need at minimum two days for the physical, travel time, and final contract language details, and I think the signing period ends sometime on Friday. It would make sense that he'd have to sign tomorrow at the latest. I'm assuming Wilner is just using common sense (for once).
  16. I don't know specifically about the AL East, but his career numbers appear to suggest he improves very marginally after the 6th. Last year was too small a sample size, but peripherals seem to agree with that assessment.
  17. How do you figure Buehrle is now only 170 to 180 innings, the 13 straight years he's thrown over 200?
  18. I find it incredible that he comes to the states for a few days (apparently only to a single city), meets with teams, then flies back. If I was planning on signing a contract somewhere for the next 6 years, I'd want to visit each place I was considering and really look around to make sure it was the right fit.
  19. I suppose McGowan might not be on an official one, but I'd suspect they would move him to the pen in the second half and promote a kid. With that said, if McGowan is in the rotation half a year with the depth we'll have next year, then he's pitching well and staying healthy, and that's a really really good thing!
  20. The source of that was Griffin though, who seems to have been completely shut out from the Jays front office for a long time. I suspect that he's right, but I also suspect that it's a pure guess on his part.
  21. McGowan and Hutch pretty much have to be on inning limits. I could see Morrow not being on one though.
  22. I'm not sure what to think about Forsythe. My main concern about him would be defensively, but the possibility of his OBP is very intriguing. Being a righty bat also helps.
  23. JPA was at almost 45% ... of course Bonds in 2004 had more than 3 times as many walks that year as JPA has had in his entire career.
  24. Unbelievable that a 30 point deficit basically turned into a single missed free throw.
