So, apparently the Cubbies demoted Neil Ramirez (their best reliever) because they want to manage his workload, at least so says the Yahoo note? (he's at 35 innings between AAA and MLB). Anyone else think they just might have their eyes on that #1 draft pick next year?

Yeah, the only reports I'd consider to have some merit at this point are those put out by Davidi (since he actually DOES seem to have some insider info). I think the rest is just AA literally calling about anyone and everyone. Some teams probably have pitchers he likes, and some have bats.

Well, I don't like Sanchez coming up now (did he even get into a game as a reliever yet?). I understand the thinking though, in terms of wanting to see if he can fill the role before having no choice but to trade for someone. I don't think this has anything to do with showcasing him.

Realistically he's probably Reed Johnson with the ability to fill in at a few infield spots. Very useful player, but probably not an everyday guy imo.

I don't think anyone has any clue what the strike zone is atm, and that includes the ump.

I wouldn't mind seeing us pick up Denorfia. Should be extremely cheap trade candidate, gives us a right handed outfield bat who can play all three positions.

Mills activated onto 25-man, Jenkins to Buffalo

He throws harder than Buehrle (at least this year). Velocity probably isn't the best thing to look at. Mills main problem in those starts with us was the walks. Actually it's interesting that his velocity has ticked up quite a bit this year. If he was coming out of the pen rather than starting and could add another 2 mph or so, he might make a pretty good reliever with that big curveball. Regardless, this is really a nothing move as he's just keeping the spot warm for Sanchez coming up and allowing Jenkins to get some work in. Certainly no reason for anyone to be upset about it.
