  1. When Tulo is healthy, yes I think he's far superior to everyone else at the position. We're also talking about someone who's cracked 600 PA once (barely) in the last 5 years though.
  2. Arguing about Votto's fragility while talking about Tulo doesn't seem wise.
  3. Wow. I definitely like that better for you.

    This was on Sportsnet: http://youtu.be/uW4zmtvYtxY
  5. At least it's early in the off-season. He shouldn't miss much development time.
  6. Oh god, I can't stop watching that. Damn you!
  7. Not all of the Jays revenue is in Canadian dollars. I have no idea how reliable this site is, but this is a really interesting article. http://awfulannouncing.com/2013/how-mlb-splits-your-tv-dollars.html It's quite possible (IF the site is accurate) that more than half our revenue is actually in USD.
  8. I can't complain about Halak and Johnson so far. I doubt they'll be a top tandem, but I'll settle for average.
  9. Baseball-Reference and Fangraphs use different formulas to calculate WAR. You should see a difference on most players.
  10. As soon as you run out of roster space and drop Greiss.
  11. Hmm, yup that does work. Very sneaky of Yahoo.
  12. Yes, annoying as hell. Just go to player notes under the players menu.
  13. I wonder if it would be a good time to take a gamble with Cecil, give him a few years extension, and make him the closer (like the A's did with Doolittle)?
  14. I don't think it would be that high (although I'm just guessing as well). It seems like he doesn't have the kind of upside that many of the other did, just a higher floor. I would think something closer to 5/40 would be what he'll come in at.
  15. I believe Beane was also given a minority share in the team or something, or a least a cut of profits. I think that might have more to do with him staying than the freedom.
  16. I don't think I'd be too happy with 5/66. Something like 5/55 (and front-loaded) I would probably be okay with (or 4/44 with an option). I think with Melky, you either give him something like 2 years at high aav, or 4 or 5 at lower aav. He doesn't strike me as someone who will age well.
  17. That would be awesome just for the reactions from everyone in the States. Totally fair though.
  18. You should flip him for Halak
  19. There may not be any compensation if it's not technically a lateral move.
  20. Interesting. So what exactly is happening there? Colletti failed upward into a higher advisory role, and Friedman technically is the president and GM, but has the option to hire someone else as the GM if he wants? It almost sounds like the Dodgers made up a new position for Friedman to get around a no lateral move policy or something...
  21. Not according to this (was in Spanky's post):
  22. The Dodgers may have been better off putting a yes man as President and paying Friedman bucket loads to be the GM...
  23. Wow! I'm curious what people will say about him though, if he starts signing pricey old free agents, etc. There have been a number of guys (quite a few who learned under Beane), who when they left to a big market club everyone assumed they would be some kind of god, and they pretty much all spent unwisely it seems. It'll be interesting to see if Friedman does, or he brings the Rays philosophy with added ability to plug holes. This would also seem to indicate that the Rays are going to rebuild, does it not?

Yeah, yeah. Didn't link it for the article.
