  1. They'll probably drop the appeal immediately after the game on Saturday.
  2. I might take it if Headley was under contract for next year too, but for a 2 month rental of a player who I believe wasn't healthy, that seems steep.
  3. One missed, one hit as well (and I doubt Stroman was aiming for the head). I think you only punish based on the intent. Both were clearly intentional, so punish both or punish neither. If the chirping after by Stroman was initiated by him, then tack an extra few on. For all we know, he was responding to something someone was yelling from the Orioles bench (although he shouldn't have regardless).
  4. If Stroman gets 6 games for that, I hope the guy who hit Bautista does too. Both were intent.
  5. Take a look at Hanley Ramirez (worse than Reyes defensively), and watch what kind of contract he gets this off-season... As for not winning with him at SS, the Yankees had Jeter there for years. What matters overall is how much value he produces, not whether it comes from offense or defense.
  6. I actually think that might have been intentional by Stroman. Nice to see some fire under the boys, although if he does do that with intent he needs to make damn sure he keeps the ball below the head.
  7. Reyes IS playing with a sore hamstring, and it's been a problem for quite a while apparently. I don't know if you've ever pulled a hamstring, but starting and stopping fast really sucks. Anyhow, he's putting up 2.5 WAR even with the lack of defense and drop from base running. He's not even close to this team's biggest problem. Of course it would be nice if he was making closer to 15M per for the next few years instead of 22M, but it's not like he's pulling a Vernon Wells or Ryan Howard. I also believe that the defensive ratings don't properly account for the turf. That'll hopefully change next year with the full rollout of mlbam. As for Saki, he's rated as positive defense, just not as good as Goins. For a final musing, what the hell has happened to Escobar's defense this year???
  8. I would actually prefer Melky. He's 4 years younger at age ranges where it starts to really matter, and frankly overall is the better player imo. I wouldn't expect Cruz to have another year like he is this year.
  9. Goins got off pretty easy lol
  10. The Rays never seem to draw very well, so I don't think it's a surprise. I agree that it's a bit disappointing though.
  11. I wouldn't be surprised to see Abreu get quite a few votes.
  12. Rodney sure loves making things interesting.
  13. Heh, it's still the third inning, and half the Dodgers batters already have 3 plate appearances.
  14. No. Lind is very similar to Overbay at picking balls at first. Unfortunately he doesn't have the defensive range Overbay did... I would probably consider Edwin slightly below average picking the ball, but it could be a hell of a lot worse.
  15. It's official. Moogy is PHB from the Dilbert comics!
  16. The nice thing about Lind is his ability to pick the ball. He may not GET to a lot of balls (which makes a good defensive 2nd baseman even more important), but when the infielders throw it in the dirt, it's still an automatic out.
  17. Seattle has a BRUTAL schedule to close out the year. 7 vs the Angels, 3 against the A's, 4 against us, and a breather vs the Astros. KC has a nice schedule, but do play 3 vs Detroit. Same with Detroit. They're the two I'm most concerned about, but at least the games they play against each other should help. We also have a brutal schedule though. 6 vs Baltimore, 4 vs Yankees, 4 vs Seattle, and 3 vs TB (which we shouldn't take too lightly either).
  18. He should probably be closer next year, although he's probably more valuable to us if he isn't.
  19. I wonder which is more dangerous for the fielders when drawn in...the ball off Encarnacion's bat, or the bat itself?
  20. You have the power to make a lot into a bit!
  21. I don't believe so. AA dropped a lot of hints about his priorities being at least one outfielder, and either a 2nd baseman or 3rd baseman. The last time he hint dropped about something like this (bullpen)...
  22. I don't see why that's generous. He's put up 1.8 WAR last year and 1.1 so far this year (in only 81 games)
