  1. As long as it doesn't involve trading guys like Hutch, Sanchez, or Stroman. Attracting any kind of FA pitcher to Toronto is nearly impossible unless we overpay like crazy, so we had better develop them ourselves.
  2. Rather amusing article about Prince Fielder (aside from the pictures): http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/page/bodyfielderqa/texas-rangers-prince-fielder-takes-all-espn-magazine-body-issue One quote in particular:
  3. A-Rod, Upton, and Howard probably for me. For shorter term ones, definitely Wells too. At least *most* of the other guys on the list are performing reasonably, just not at the expected level.
  4. I didn't even think he was eligible since he wasn't drafted, but I see Edmonton did a deal with him after the draft. Nice find.
  5. We would get a massive haul considering the team friendly contracts and 2.5 years remaining on them, not to mention it's nearly impossible to trade for high end bats. If we ate some money (especially if we did), we'd probably get something pretty sweet for Reyes, Buehrle, and Dickey too. Honestly, the best thing for the team long term would be to trade them. If we didn't screw it up, it would probably set the organization up for a Rays style sustained run without the decade of last place finishes first. However, I totally understand wanting to win now too, and I think if we can avoid any more key injuries we have the team to potentially do so.
  6. Reyes seriously needs to stop trying to kill our 1st basemen
  7. This is a fantastic move. He's even arbitration eligible next year. Sure everyone wants a stud bat, but this dramatically strengthens the bench, at least offensively.
  8. At least Baltimore faces the Nats and Yankees before heading into the break.
  9. He stood up for them by immediately requesting the replay. Getting thrown out would serve no purpose. He can't yell at the idiots in the replay booth.
  10. I know you're joking, but if we don't call up Johnson we could consider moving JB to 1st. Might help protect his leg for a week or two.
  11. He doesn't have significant splits this year or his games in the majors, but he does in previous years in the minors. Like I said though, he's basically Francisco except he can walk (and can't play a bad 3rd base).
  12. Johnson does have a .400 obp and .900 ops in AAA, and it's not the PCL any more. He's not going to make anyone forget about Edwin, but he's not a light hitting bat that has trouble getting the ball out of the infield either. He's probably basically Francisco except he can actually walk.
  13. If it's true, what it tells me is that the Jays think they can get something worthwhile for some of our relievers at the deadline. Either that or they're trying to hype up those two prospects in preparation for a trade, but imo that would be a mistake.
  14. Certainly can't be upset with nabbing Mantha, Perlini, Kapanen, and Scherbak so far
  15. Kasperi Kapanen and Nikita Scherbak. Frag is on the clock!
  16. Abomination selects Brendan Perlini. Jaysguy is on the clock x2
  17. I wonder if Allen Craig could be a good fit in the outfield? He seems to be the odd man out in Stl right now, and his contract is reasonable.
  18. I hate how they lock players in postponed games too.
  19. People need to calm down. It's not like we're facing a scrub team. We're facing the best team in baseball right now, and we're coming off taking both games against the team with the second best record. You aren't going to win every game.
