  1. No, it was in the last few days.
  2. I can't find it, but I remember hearing it in one of the interviews. I just don't remember which one.
  3. In one of the press conferences the last day or so, I think they said the Jays use 9M/WAR right now.
  4. Matthews might have a point on that call. Nice to see one go our way for once.
  5. I personally would prefer Smyly even if the salaries were equal. I might be the only one though.
  6. Who's to say he'll do it with a team though? He may take a broadcasting role for a while, or perhaps give lectures on sports management at a local university (probably wouldn't qualify as an actual prof). I really think there's something to all of this, that it had more to do with the hours and time away from his family, etc, than anything to do with new management.
  7. It was interesting that LaCava kept saying how happy AA is. I'm kind of wondering if it was a family decision for AA due to the excessive hours etc, rather than any other factor.
  8. Jamie asking very good questions.
  9. It's entirely possible LaCava doesn't WANT to be a GM too.
  10. FFS, stop with the AA questions.
  11. He might possibly be laying it on a little thick.
  12. There's a few people not regularly setting lineups. I don't think the league will fold or anything, but it would be nice if people would put in 2 or 3 minutes a week to set them.
  13. Depends what the new GM was to do. If he trades other guys and it's clear to Edwin and Jose that the team isn't going to compete this year, then both would probably waive their no trade clauses if it meant going to a contender.
  14. There's also the possibility he partially tears things down (not sure Rogers would agree to that though). Bautista and Edwin would fetch a pretty nice return even in the final seasons of their contracts. Might be able to completely fix the pitching that way, and get a promising young bat or too on top of it.
  15. The Yankees aren't as strong because they had a whole bunch of aging players signed to monster contracts, and had little to no players coming out of the farm.

  17. And then there's GD
  18. Yeah, if you don't have other commitments like a family, tons of people would jump at the chance I'm sure. Hell of a lot better than working for free in the mail room to get noticed, if you want to get in the door.
  19. Actually I think most people here liked Syndergaard better, but there were rumors that the organization liked Sanchez more.
  20. I don't get that feeling. I think he and Shapiro have different (probably incompatible) viewpoints on how to build and maintain the franchise going forward. It's likely that AA didn't want to be forced to make various moves that he fundamentally disagreed with. I doubt it had anything to do with ego.
  21. So apparently we went from putting up with bad umps to having the pleasure of seeing bad refs again ...
  22. Heyward scares me a bit, so much of his value is tied up in his legs. When those start to go, he's probably a 2-3 WAR player. I feel like someone is really gonna regret the back end of his contract.
  23. Seems pretty even. Not sure what the point was, unless someone was short at one of the positions.
  24. Probably not that high from the playoff run. I'd have to think we'll see a payroll bump though.
  25. Yeah, this was a fantastic year. I have no complaints (except for the ump/mlb/announcer bias in the playoffs) And happy birthday!
