I had kind of wondered about that too. I wish they had something like special teams goals and special teams assists instead of just separated though. Would teams put up enough points per week in each category with them separated to not add too much of the luck factor like we have with shutouts? As for the points, like Cyborg suggested, it would add more weight to the points slightly, which emphasizes them a little more over some of the other categories. I don't know if it should be done or not, but I think it's worth discussing.

Adding points as well could be worth discussion, if we're adding another non (direct) scoring category like faceoffs.

I'd be okay with it (I'm pretty indifferent), but I'd like to see at least one offensive category added in its place. After sleeping on shutouts last night, I just felt, even if the impact is very small, that it wasn't fair to change a scoring category right before the start of the season. Let's decide on exactly what we want to change now, and then put it into place for the start of 16-17. That'll give everyone a full year to prepare.

Doesn't Yahoo hockey now support 2 week finals? If so, that's a change that would be good imo.

Yeah, I changed my mind about removing a goalie slot. It would be too annoying to have 2 goalies going, and only one slot. Especially if you got unlucky and both started on the same night for a long stretch. We could remove SO this year I guess, since I doubt anyone really cares. Doesn't matter much to me. I don't think the min appearances at 1 would be that bad. If someone wants to sit on the categories after one good start, they're going to lose at least half of them (assuming SO is removed). Two is fine too though, I was just thinking that if someone loses their #1, getting two starts from a backup can be a challenge, and almost forces overpaying in a trade. I'd say add all of PIM, FW, and P in 2016-2017. That would make goaltending stats 4/15, which seems reasonable.

I'm kind of thinking any stat categories shouldn't be changed until the offseason. If we decide now though, people will have all season to prepare for it. For now, just make min appearances be 1. Next offseason, remove shutouts, and add one or more categories to the skaters (PIM, FW, or simply points, or all 3).

There's probably only 20 guys out of the 30 that have firm grasps on the starting job. Not really sure it's that big a deal. The biggest issue is really if you have only one #1, and he goes down with injury. Maybe change the mandatory appearances to be 1 per week or something, and remove shutouts. Could also have just one goalie slot I guess.

LMAO. Apparently one of the Flames players had a big hit and a fight in the game versus the Canucks, then someone realized he wasn't supposed to be in the lineup (so he had to leave).

I had to look him up too. Had a good year last year in the minors, but is 26 and has played 5 years in the AHL without sniffing any NHL action. Definitely not who I would have selected from the remaining goalies.

Yeah, it's annoying that those 3 aren't yet, but it doesn't really matter as long as they're there before opening day.
