  1. Holy crap!
  2. At least one thing interesting about Happ is that he's been gaining velocity throughout most of his career (much like Lee). He probably isn't a guy who will lose a lot of stuff over the next few years.
  3. Lol, a commercial that actually didn't totally suck.
  4. No kidding
  5. It'll be really interesting to see how much Price gets. A lot of the players seem to get more than I expect, but I find it hard to see him hitting 30M / year. I can definitely see 7/175 or 8/200 though.
  6. It would have to be back-loaded at least some to fit in next year's (assumed) payroll, unless he received a healthy signing bonus that wasn't counted. An opt-out after 3 would probably be ideal though.
  7. Interesting. The tail end of a Price contract may hurt, but for the next few years he's pretty much a perfect fit.
  8. He's had several seasons with it being really low like that. Really strange numbers overall. The main problem is how much he sucks defensively.
  9. It's worth noting that only 12 teams had a starting pitcher TEAM FIP under 4.00 last year. Certainly Chavez isn't likely to be a high end starter, but he's a real nice option as your #4 or #5 guy.
  10. You mean the two guys who just put up 4.9 WAR and 4.2 WAR are s***?
  11. Last year, Vogt caught 90 of his 157 innings. In 2014, almost all of the innings were caught by Jaso (54) and Norris (83) (Jaso was horrific, Norris below average).
  12. There's a few other minor factors that I think are worth considering: 1) Hendriks had an unusually large velocity jump last year. Does that make him more likely to be go under the knife soon? 2) Chavez did not start the season in the rotation, and may not have been prepared to do so. A full offseason preparing as a full time starter may help. 3) Martin is a superior framer to Phegley, and especially Vogt.
  13. Hard to know what to make of those guys, especially with very limited stats. The walk ability (especially last year) is pretty nice though.
  14. Who exactly? Anyone less is probably looking to rebuild their value, and wouldn't be coming to one of the best hitting parks to do it. The other options would likely be much worse projection wise, or much more expensive. Chavez just put up back to back seasons of a sub 4 xFIP (3.67 and 3.89). That's not bad for a #5 starter.
  15. I don't think it's bad even without an extension. Chavez has been solid, and if he can make 30 starts, will probably put up 2.5 WAR or higher. That's pretty damn good for ~$5M. Maybe Hendriks continues to be great, maybe he doesn't. Assuming health, Chavez is probably worth 2 seasons of Hendriks directly. If we consider that picking up a guy like Chavez on the FA market probably costs 3 years @ ~10M per, then that makes it even nicer. I think this is a very nice deal for both teams.
  16. You just know it'll either be the d-backs or Mariners.
  17. Lots of possibilities. Also possible that Dickey is traded.
  18. Personally, no. I still believe in Hutch though.
  19. I don't mind this deal, assuming we don't give up anything else on top of it. Also, as long as we still net someone to slot in ahead or behind Stroman.
  20. What the f*** are the Rockies doing? I wouldn't mind claiming all four of Axford, Brothers, Kahnle, and Rosario.
  21. I could actually see Krol as still turning into a good reliever, if he can ever get people off his fastball. Don't really know anything about Speier, but the numbers look good.
  22. Donaldson's new cleats: http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/nike-gives-custom-mvp-cleats-to-blue-jays-josh-donaldson/ http://assets1.sportsnet.ca/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Cleats.jpg
  23. Maybe as AAA fodder and depth, unless he's completely lost his velocity or something.
  24. Hmmm, yep, you're right. Don't usually bother listening to the audio, so took the article at face value.
  25. Regarding Sanchez: http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/gibbons-pitching-staff-key-to-winning-for-blue-jays/
