  1. I actually think Upton is a better fit for us, given his ability to cover CF as well, nab bases off the bench, and is under contract for next year at a good (for us) price. Both would have been fantastic though.
  2. Seems to have a good curve and slider. Main issue seems to be fastball command (not sure whether he's nibbling too much). Maybe adding a few mph in the pen along with short innings would fix that.
  3. Sometimes the best trades are the ones you don't make.
  4. I'll be interested to see what a boost in velocity coming out of the pen would do for him (assuming that's the short term plan). His AAA numbers this year in that capacity are encouraging. On the flip side, man does he like to give up dingers.
  5. Lol Boxy. I am willing to trade Harris (not for picks though) and Cingrani who is also closing. Also willing to expand a trade to include guys like Vogt (or Gomes if anyone still likes him), Schimpf, Moss (who is about to come off the DL and was putting up big numbers).
  6. The medicals don't necessarily show everything. If a team sells a player where they know something is wrong and don't disclose it, then I'd assume language in the contract allows for compensation.
  7. I would assume that if the idea was to replace Dickey, then he'd be traded somewhere immediately after.
  8. Hasn't been necessary to do it yet, so they might as well see what they can do at the deadline and then make a decision with all information available.
  9. You could just piggyback him with Hutch. Limit Sanchez to like 50 or 60 pitches a start, however far that gets him. It would still be easy to stretch him back out at the end of September at those pitch counts, and pitchers often get a quick hook in the playoffs anyway.
  10. I'd rather Hutch starting than Santana, but Santana is probably a valid starting option. I certainly wouldn't pay much for him though. I'd love for us to nab Trevor May.
  11. It would be real tough to subtract an important part of the team in a pennant race (even if just for optics reasons). But man if someone offered a Frazier, Gallo, De Leon, etc in the offseason for Osuna we should be all over it.
  12. I have to think Bautista would play 1st if we got Reddick, and the only way it would really make a lot of sense would probably be if he signed an extension. Reddick has excellent career numbers in Rogers Center, although it's only 18 games. Heck, signing a 1 year extension might be smart for him to put up big numbers and hit FA a year later.
  13. An auction where most people don't know it's going on seems ... bold. I wouldn't have bid so it doesn't matter to me, but I probably would have set an end date for Sunday night at midnight or something.
  14. They'll both be fine. I forgot about Liriano too. Pitchers f***ing hate me.
  15. I feel your pain. Giles, Cecil, Kela, Smith were supposed to make up for my lack of volume among my starting pitching with their ratios... Yeah, that turned out great. Given my Harvey and Stroman disaster, it wouldn't have mattered anyway, but still.
  16. Hard to even get mad at one that puts enough time in to make a relevant statement.
  17. I think the biggest thing salary wise is the capability to pay at the deadline with more money rather than better prospects. Put a $150M payroll on the team at the start of the year, but allow it to go to 160 or 170 at the deadline if necessary. Be willing to take on a (shorter term) bad contract paired with a desired player without giving up a stud prospect.
  18. As I mentioned earlier, apparently tv viewership is also up 50%. I don't know what percentage of ads, etc are locked in at fixed prices for the year though.
  19. Stroman threw 165 innings in 2014 (that are official, might be more in addition). He did have the layoff last year, but teams seem to worry less about that than whether a pitcher has built up the innings in the past or not. It wouldn't hurt to limit him to 5 innings in September or something when the rosters expand, but he shouldn't need to be shut down imo.
  20. Probably Greene or Harris if Hill is healthy? Not sure.
  21. I think it would be better to just have them go 2 times through the order, then the other come in. Stro starts to get hit more 3rd time through the order, so he'd be a decent fit. Hutch would also be a decent fit. The added benefit of course is that Sanchez could still be used as a starter come the playoffs.
  22. It's possible the A's feel he might accept the QO if they offer it, and can't afford to take the chance.
  23. There was an article at the start of this month that said the Jays TV ratings were up 50% over this time last year.
  24. You should have let him not be drafted. Would have been much more fun.
