If you're running Pillar and Pompey out there, you almost might as well go with 2 outfielders and add a roving infielder (especially when Sanchez and Stroman are pitching)
Thole sets up like that to keep his hand as relaxed as possible, which helps him adjust to the knuckleball's flight. He doesn't do it when he catches a normal pitcher.
Osuna hasn't gotten much work lately, so I really don't have a big problem with this. He was already warm. It would be a lot different if he was overworked.
What on earth is Tulo supposed to do there, take his eye off the ball to wildly look around and see where the 1st baseman is just in case he's running at him?
