    Very entertaining game, regardless of the outcome. I don't know wtf the refs are doing these last 30 seconds though.

    I don't really see the need. If someone goes down for more than a few games, just stretch Biagini out on the fly. No reason to waste him in AAA when he can help the big league team.

    It seems he might actually be above average defensively at 1B. He could very well put up ~3 WAR there over a full season.

    There's no upside to declaring early, only downside. Maybe you fall down the stairs or something, etc.

    He put up 3.4 total in the three years prior to last year. It doesn't seem all that far fetched.

    Trout has been to the postseason once in 6 years. Halladay was in the postseason twice in 16 years. They were BOTH great in both situations.

    I don't think so. I think it has to do with his very visible, frequent, and demonstrative arguments with the umps. Lots of people may complain, but most don't show the umps up. Apparently one of the worst offenders in baseball was Jeter, but he did it in such a way that no one ever noticed.

    I actually disagree on a premium arm. I'd rather the kind of money spent on a Jansen be used to add another big bat instead. There's a lot of hype over the premium arms right now, and I feel like this would be the worst possible time to add one.

    They wouldn't have picked up Bruce's option if they were going to do an Upton like deal.

    Well, it had a 1M buyout. They obviously wouldn't give up an interesting asset for that amount though.

    No (and frankly we may never get access). It would be a lot of fun to play around with though. As far as UZR, more than likely it would allow us to determine some injuries to players that weren't necessarily reported.

    I kind of feel we shouldn't worry too much about the relief staff. Nab some cheap wildcards and see if one or two work out. The cost this offseason for relievers is probably going to be higher than the value teams will receive, as it seems to be kind of the new "in" thing. I think we should be targeting most of the cash for the offense.

    It's possible that FieldFX based metrics (which use actual measurements) rate Bruce's defense much different than what Fangraphs does (which uses generalized averages). I'm not sure that's the case, but it is a possibility.

    The part I don't really get is they talked about wanting to change the team composition and ways to score. Bruce doesn't do that. The only thing he has going for him in that regards is that he's left handed. I'd rather just resign Saunders if we're going that route, as I think a full offseason might improve his defense a little.

    If we take the LH platoon partner bit at face value, then the best fits would seem to be: Reddick Ethier (trade target) Coghlan Moss All would likely provide plus offense and defense in the platoon role. If we WANTED another lefty killer, Gutierrez would be a great target.
