  1. Why? He's a solid prospect, walks, doesn't strike out a lot, and should play above average defense. He'll probably be more of an average big leaguer rather than a star, but that's okay.
  2. I wonder how long it'll take for the Mariners to move Dyson to 1B, or DH, or something? That's their MO, isn't it? Move good defensive players to other positions, and move 1B/DH guys to the OF? On a personal note, in the LOD I was really REALLY looking forward to Strahm getting a chance to start
  3. Halladay's issue wasn't baseball related. Lee and Shields were both approaching their mid-30s before they had issues, and Bumgarner is a number of years away from that. Felix could be a valid indicator, although his high reliance on off-speed pitches could be at least as large a factor as the innings count.
  4. I might take Bumgarner over Strasburg even if Strasburg didn't have the injury history. MadBum is so ridiculously consistent.
  5. I think I'd rather just use Pompey.
  6. I'd trade Estrada if we could sign Ross (both are probably equal injury risks next year, and Ross would be cheaper with extra years of control). Aside from that though, it would be hard to trade from our staff (especially Stroman or Sanchez).
  7. Archer has 5 extremely affordable years left on his contract (38.5M over the next 5 years), and is basically an ace who just turned 28. Yeah, I can see it.
  8. We need to start making shots against good teams. This is just embarrassing. Outplayed and outworked.
  9. To FrenchSoup: Lorenzen To Abomination: R4 MiLB (AG)
  10. I don't know what's gotten into Siakam today, but he's playing like he wants to make a statement.
  11. I think that's his wife.
  12. Well, he's basically a top 100 prospect. You'd think a company would perhaps be willing to take a gamble on 20k in return for Alford agreeing to do a certain number of promotions for them in the future (say).
  13. Americans seem to have that mentality in general. Same thing with health insurance. Certainly feel bad for his family, but I'm not a big fan of this kind of fundraising. Surely some company would have given him a special sponsorship deal or something for the $20k to help his family out, and he makes some appearances for them or something.
  14. What are you looking for?
  15. Yes, I'd like to see this happen (I suggested it in one of the other threads). Use him as the backup catcher, and if he can't be fixed and you have to cut him you haven't really lost much. He has good power, maybe he can start to tap into it. I'd rather go that route than pay a few million for a backup guy who can't hit to save his life.
  16. This offensive start is just as bad as last night. Thank God we're playing Phoenix.
  17. Too many forced shots at the end.
  18. I'm not sure about the wisdom of not just resting the players, but they're making it interesting.
  19. They're on pace!
  20. This might be a really long night.
  21. Yeah, I suspect it'll take 3/50 or 1/20 at minimum. I'd be fine with either of those though, as long as the weirdness in his swing at the end of last season isn't an issue going forward.
  22. According to the reports, he wants to be guaranteed to do both as a condition of signing.
  23. I don't see any reason Lawrie couldn't play outfield as well. He's really ideally suited as a super utility guy, kind of like a poor man's Zobrist.
  24. Wow, that missed dunk almost made it to half court!
