  1. Eovaldi was released by the Yankees. He could make an interesting addition to the pen, possibly as a long man. If he could rediscover his slider from a few years ago (his velocity has actually increased in general), he'd be an intriguing later game arm. He only made 5.6M last year and wasn't claimed, so the price would likely be affordable. edited: Didn't realize he had TJS. Wouldn't be the worst guy to pick up on a 2 year team friendly deal.
  2. I wouldn't be happy if they did either. I just feel like it was a legitimate post, not something worthy of the flack he's receiving. People should be pointing out exactly what you just did, not laughing it off as some kind of joke.
  3. I don't think it was full tard at all. I don't agree with all of it, but the only top end guy he has us signing is Fowler. He seems to have tried to match our needs with keeping an eye on the budget. I don't know how he's taking the flack he is.
  4. I'm sure people will still complain that it's sexist or something. But yeah, horrible name.
  5. We're getting a little bit of a favorable whistle for once.
  6. 34 in the 1st, 0 in the 2nd lol.
  7. What do you consider cheap for Gordon?
  8. I think people are greatly underestimating just how good Liriano can be as a starter.
  9. I don't see why not, although I suspect in his case he might be healthy enough coming into spring that you might not get away with trying. Still, you could make him the long man if need be, especially if we have 26 man rosters.
  10. Brasoban (maybe), Haley, Weiss. If a commenter is correct about Ziomek being available, him too.
  11. They won't win an appeal. At best the league will say they messed up and they're sorry.
  12. There's no way they even look if we're Cleveland and Lebron takes that shot. Complete ********.
  13. Chacin could be interesting as a reliever. No idea if he'd be willing to sign as one though. Last year when he wasn't starting, his velocity ticked way up and he put up an xFIP of 3.19 with 11 k/9. With the increased velocity, nasty slider, and good curve, he could be very, very good.
  14. 1st basemen are probably a little more difficult to calculate, as you have things like holding a runner on (which reduces range) and picking bad throws (I think this is partially accounted for?).
  15. His upside is probably average defensively (maybe a tad below), but I don't think he's likely as bad as the small sample sizes indicate. I mean there's certainly other players I'd rather, but it all depends on cost (and willingness to sign). If we spend in other areas, we have to save somewhere. Tucker is the kind of target who could come into play in that scenario.
  16. One presumably cheap trade target could be Preston Tucker as a platoon mate for Upton. He had a shoulder issue last year, but pretty consistent minor league numbers.
  17. Apparently Wacha could be available, and probably wouldn't cost an arm and a leg (just one of the two). If we were to trade Estrada for a comparable outfielder and trade for Wacha, that would be a good swap (save us some money too). Wacha has 3 arbitration years left I think.
  18. I like my team overall but they aren't performing well to start the season, especially my forwards. I should be middle of the pack, not that I'm complaining mind you.
  19. Holy crap, Zeros team has a +/- of -29 on the week. That's amazing.
  20. Melky is a terrible fielder. He'd be more interesting as a DH, but we have Morales. Bringing Lawrie back could be interesting if we were to turn him into a super util guy. He can play pretty much every position in a pinch, and would provide nice protection at 3B and 2B. I see no reason he couldn't be average to above average in the OF and 1B too. I'd love to buy lowish on Abreu.
  21. Ethier could be available too, although that isn't completely clear.
  22. I assume Dermody probably makes the pen too, and could be very, very good.
  23. Morales in the outfield, Bruce, Bautista as a legit outfielder, ... I'm pretty sure at this point the FO doesn't value defense in the outfield (at least at the corners).
  24. The closer's role just for one game. We all know why.
  25. Shelby certainly didn't.
