Bichette will obviously depend on how his swing handles the higher levels. If he gets exploited a bit, I think Dozier could be a decent ceiling comp (maybe with closer to 30 home runs though). If he doesn't get exploited, I think Cano could be a good ceiling. I really don't see him stealing a lot of bases in the majors.
I think a good ceiling for Alford might be McCutchen.
Vlad is maybe a little harder. Pujols or Miggy may not actually be unreasonable ceilings, although I think it's tough to suggest that for any player. Maybe Manny Ramirez, if Vlad was to play in the OF for a bit.
So would I, but I think Panik is more realistic. Same level of control, same approximate value. Panik is a little safer and better fit for us offensively, and Pillar would help them more in that big field. Move Travis to LF and try to keep him healthier if he isn't always having to land on his knee, etc.
In one you warm the arm slower, one you have to make a throw at 100% while cold. For a pitcher who throws a lot, it takes some time to loosen up the arm. It's less of a problem for a normal outfielder.
I don't think that's true. We made a very good offer to Edwin to keep him, we took on full contracts to get guys like Liriano, and let's not discuss Morales. The team is simply in a transition period, so long term deals probably don't make a lot of sense atm. Shorter term deals often involve value type signings.
C - Carlos Ruiz, Hundley
INF - Stephen Drew
OF - Ethier, Jay
SP - Anderson, Chacin, Wei-Yin Chen, Garcia, Hellickson, Hutch (maybe), Liriano, Lynn, Tyson Ross
We all know what will happen. They'll sign three higher end guys quickly and get a bunch of fan excitement and tickets sold, then back out of the contracts when the physicals come in.
Add to that his near no-hitter in his second career start. I was just starting university when that happened, and was watching it in the common room. It felt really magical (and heartbreaking when he lost it). That playoff matchup between him and Carpenter was also really something.
IMO there's no chance Tellez doesn't get taken. His problems last year were due to family issues if I remember right. He's basically MLB ready, and someone will want to see what that bat can do.
