  1. Harvey had a terrible year last year, no question, but he was still averaging ~94 mph on the fastball. His off-speed stuff was still above average, just didn't have fastball command for some reason. In 2016 he put up about 2 WAR in half a season. IMO he's an excellent bounce back candidate.
  2. This was always going to be a rough week for me. I was way the hell down on man games (you had something like 15 more games than I did). I expected to get blown out, so a little bad luck to only lose 5-7 I'm fine with. Looks like Fleury is almost back too, which will really help me.
  3. That was my thought too.
  4. I doubt we could without giving up one of Guerrero or Bichette.
  5. Well, it WAS a nice start.
  6. If we did a rebuild we'd be trading JD, probably Osuna, Stroman, Pillar, etc. We'd absolutely get a big return, especially for the first three.
  7. I'd think it would have to be pretty close, which is fortunate because we don't really have that truly elite guy in the starting rotation (although I guess Kyle is close).
  8. The Raps might have learned from having to work so hard on Friday to come back. They look incredible right now.
  9. 5M would be my guess, 1 year
  10. Me too. I'd rather just nab Liriano again, or maybe Anderson (along with Smyly for 2019). Signing Tyson Ross and Hutch for Buffalo would be fantastic too.
  11. Given that Stanton has trouble staying healthy and Judge could very easily face the sophomore slump, that's not an unreasonable suggestion imo.
  12. I think this is a great deal for the Yankees atm, but I'll also say that if they aren't able to reset their luxury tax this year, it'll also be an incredibly expensive one for them. They still need one or two starting pitchers at the very least, although I'd imagine they'll try to trade for one dangling Frazier as bait.
  13. We really need to improve in the last 2 minutes. Stop using the clock to such a degree that you don't get a good shot.
  14. Yikes, this is an ugly first quarter. 73.7% shooting percentage for Memphis ...
  15. Lots of time left in the week
  16. Dunno, but I really like that deal for Detroit. I would have liked to see him sign here for that (or have traded for him).
  17. Oops, yeah. Move along people, nothing to see here.
  18. Gohara seems interesting too, although without as much hype. Strikeout ability, 21 years old, upper 90s fastball, lefty.
  19. He's known he was going to be posted for some time, and known he was coming over here for a few years now likely. It seems like if it was me, I'd already have visited a few of the cities. I wouldn't want to make a snap decision on a few presentations, possibly not even seeing the actual city first in person.
  20. That's actually not a half bad idea lol. They could use it as a demonstration bed for all kinds of new technology and ideas. Someone spread a rumor that Apple's gonna buy them, and Google will do it by this time tomorrow. They could even convert the hotel into a data center.
  21. Rogers needs to leverage what they have with the Jays better. Give people an experience no one else is digitally, rather than just broadcast. Have a VR feed, add user-selectable camera angles, add some cameras to the batting cage and let people watch BP, spike Atkin's drink and have him drunk call other GMs, that sort of thing. Heck, have some kind of in-game competition with the fans and broadcast it after the game as a reality show. I feel like they're doing a terrible job of utilizing the assets they have in general. On the other side of things, they could host things like a programming competition to have people create new Blue Jays inspired apps. Machine learning competitions could probably help them reduce stadium costs and improve the fan experience, all at ultra low cost. The same things would apply to the NHL for them too.
  22. I think I read before that they were considering selling it to an affiliated entity or something, which would take it off Rogers books while allowing them to invest more in the team. I hope it's not sold to an outside interest though, because Rogers offers us really great ownership stability.
  23. Those guys were also a lot more experienced when they came over, and weren't coming off a mostly lost season at age 22. It's certainly possible Ohtani dominates, but no one should be projecting that off the bat.
  24. I have a feeling people are a little too optimistic on Ohtani (for next year at least). I'd suspect he'll be a lot closer to 2 WAR pitching and 0 WAR with the bat. I think he has the capability to progress towards the 3-4 WAR range, plus 1 with the bat though.
  25. I hope he got a good raise. He's probably been the hardest working member of the organization over the past five years.
