I don't think it's that big a deal. Schneider is perfectly capable. In an emergency situation, you have Jimenez and Loperfido on the farm. Barger played games at SS as late as last year prior to coming up, so he might even be an option at 2nd. It certainly wouldn't be a bad idea for the Jays to give Barger and Loperfido some reps there in the spring just in case, but we have potential depth to get through multiple injuries. If we're going to upgrade, it has to be a clear upgrade with the bat, not a marginal one.

Is it an upgrade? Schneider put up almost the same WAR when scaled to playing time.

I really hate Bellinger's splits last year. It could be a case of there being little choice though. He did hit well at RC in a limited sample size, fwiw.

If Clement puts up a 115 wRC+ he might surpass 5 WAR.

I can't see Bellinger going anywhere except New York, but hopefully we can make them pay up for him. The fit is just too good for both of them. Suarez is interesting and should probably be our target. I could see an outside chance of maybe something like Luis Robert Jr for Lucas and Berrios. IMO that makes some sense for both teams.

I'm not even mad about not getting him. That contract is completely insane. Sign Bo, and we've probably improved on par with the Dodgers anyway. Dodgers: Diaz + Tucker Jays: Cease, Ponce, Rogers, Okamoto

Hard to complain about minor league signings, but I don't think any more bullpen moves for the major league club is really necessary. Little and Fluharty should be perfectly capable of handling it. In the second half of the year, I would assume we'll see Tiedemann come up if needed since they'll likely want to manage his innings. Javen Coleman could be a wildcard also.

This may not be popular, but I don't think we need to improve the pen any further. It would be nice if Little could learn how to hit the broad side of a barn again, but it's really a group that can face anyone at any time.

I don't think the Jays will offer him a higher AAV than Vladdy (after deferral adjustment). If that's straight up, I can't see them doing more than 10/$350.

There is no world where I would take Bellinger over Tucker or Bo at even money. Bellinger is NOT in the same class. Don't get me wrong, he's a very good player, just a tier below. The difference between 2024 Bellinger and 2025 Bellinger is basically Yankee Stadium.

A healthy Santander would be equivalent to signing a big bat. All the same, I really want to see us finish this off with Bo or Tucker.

I feel like this move takes us out of the Tucker market and hopefully means Bo resigning. I have to imagine Okamoto is penciled in as the 3rd baseman, with a backup plan of LF if he struggles defensively. Barger likely moves to RF. I can't see them trading either Barger or Santander, so unless Barger can play 2nd (maybe?) I can't see them adding another outfielder. I would think it also means one of Lukes or Straw will probably be traded (probably Lukes since he's a lefty), along with Berrios and Rodriguez. I feel a little bad for Loperfido in all of this, who is actually kind of intriguing but has no realistic shot of being in the majors this year. I'm thinking we'll end up looking something like this: DH - Springer C- Kirk 1B - Vladdy 2B - Bo SS - Gimenez 3B - Okamoto CF - Varsho LF - Santander RF - Barger Bench - Heineman, Schneider, Straw, Clement SP - Gausman SP - Cease SP - Bieber SP - Yesavage SP - Ponce RP - Hoffman RP - Rogers RP - Varland RP - Little RP - Lauer RP - Nance RP - Fluharty RP - Garcia Minors but ready: Fisher, Lee -
Apparently Sportsnet had an average of 4.4M viewers in the ALCS and 7.5M during the WS. They also said that they averaged 2.5M viewers for the entire post-season coverage on Sportsnet (I assume that's all the games they showed, not just the Jays).

He has the highest upside if he figures it out, but he really feels like a AAAA guy or 4th outfielder to me.

The Baz trade seems fine for the Rays, but I don't get the Lowe one at all. I feel like the prospects they received may not be as good as the ones they gave up, and that's before discussing Lowe.

Tucker's agent probably says no, and Bo would probably already have the pen in his hand.
