  1. The thing with him is that he has always pitched up in the zone. Take a look this Kris Medlan quote who played with him for several years. “We always give him (grief) because he’s got the invisi-ball,” said Kris Medlen, who played with Redmond in Gwinnett this year and Double-A Mississippi in 2008. “He always goes seven or eight innings, but he throws these belt-high to belly button-high 90 mph (fastballs). If I threw them they’d get crushed but it doesn’t. Some things you can’t explain.” — David O’Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, June 17, 2012 He gets swinging strikes on 90 MPH fastballs up in the zone...no one should get away with that but for some reason he does. Does he disguise things well? I'm not big on deception guys long term (same reason I'm not buying in on Tony Cingrani just yet) but if the Redmond K-Rates stay up this high you have no choice but to give him a Spring chance to compete for the 5th starter. I believe he has one more option so if he doesn't break with the team you get to keep him around in Buffalo.

  3. I kind of like that move, play it like a playoff game.
  4. TdA has a 21% BB rate over 140 PA's this season (over 4 levels). Can he get enough PA's in September to catch JPA in walks (currently 16 to 4).
  5. Sinkerball pitcher that can't get ground balls. Those guys don't last too long. Honestly I don't know where the K-Rates are coming from but if they drop and the BABIP goes up (which it will anyway), he might be closer to a 6.00 ERA guy.
  6. Tonight I was an A-Rod fan. Sorry I thought what Dempster did was ********, even bigger ******** by the ump not to throw him out. As I type this Chris Stewart just let a ball go by and hit the ump right in the throat...if that was on purpose complete justice.
  7. I love Chris Seddon's face, he seems to be saying how are none of you Koreans impressed by this. [video=youtube;KsH8fCtwmRk#at=44]
  8. Nice win for the boys last night. Time to get back to the top of the division.
  9. Maybe should have clarified. Was considered until about his 3rd year in the bigs a good defensive SS. 2005 he was considered best Defensive player in the Eastern and PCL. Wasn't until around 2008 everything started to look poor.
  10. daughters?
  11. did Buck and Tabby really say that Shuck would be the competition for ROY? I'd vote for f***ing Kawasaki before I'd vote for Shuck
  12. Will be interesting to see just how Yuniesky his defense is. Betancourt has always been considered a great defensive player who doesn't show in the metrics. Hech is starting the same way at this point.
  13. Ryno takes over, at least there won't be any show-boating or bat flips in Philly at least. I've never known a super hard working, Hall of Fame player that has made a successful manager (see Pete Rose). At least we know Ruiz won't be back with the Phils.
  14. My Cy Young Predictor Max Scherzer DET 17-1 end voting. I really don't think it's the year for voters to get all saber friendly. Scherzer is far from a bad candidate (barring a September blow up) and he has all the casual fan friendly numbers (won-loss, 2nd in K's, on winning team). In the NL we could see some typically bad BBWAA voting, should be fun. Lots of ball left though.
  15. From the same article which was written by Zach Mortimer Daniel Norris, LHP, Blue Jays (Low-A Lansing): 5.0 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 8 K. I’ve always been a big fan of Norris and can say I’ve seen him near his best. Norris offers a fastball that works in the low 90s and can touch more when needed, and a curveball and changeup with plus potential. This year, Norris has also added a slider that is developing into an effective pitch. Norris profiles as a middle-of-the-rotation starter.
  16. A.J. Jimenez, C, Blue Jays (Double-A New Hampshire): 3-4, 2 2B, R, 4 RBI, BB. The consensus among scouts that I’ve spoken to about Jimenez is that he is a no-doubt big-leaguer. Most question if the bat is ever going to be enough for him to be an everyday-type catcher. Defensively, Jimenez can get a little lackadaisical at times, but once his arm is completely healthy, he has a rocket behind the plate. The swing is contact-oriented. Going forward, Jimenez is going to force the Blue Jays hand if he keeps putting up positive performances, and should get a chance to contribute in the big leagues in 2014.

  18. Kolten Wong called up by the Cards...True Cardinal?
  19. I've been twice. Once when I was 12 and then again when I was in my 20's. been far too long for me to recommend anything...I remember that it all closed early though. Not exactly a party town. Any chance you'll head to a Scranton Wilkes-Barre game? That's what we did that trip, it's a little over an hour away
  20. I thought Skydome was the one of the worst names ever. I'll sign a petition to never have to hear it again
  21. lets not get Lind'd by a small sample size of good patient AB's. He's not going to keep a 12% K-Rate like he has the past month, however I'd like to think he has the ability to get close to the 9% BB rate. if he goes back to swinging at everything next month we seriously need an overhaul of coaching staff's as it was so obvious (beyond the numbers) that Lind was a better hitter back in May, then suddenly his approach changed. Lawrie is a different looking hitter out there right now, different than he was 2 years ago even. If he reverts it might be my final straw with this team (which doesn't mean anything as I'll still watch every game I can)
  22. I like trading with Gibbers and Dinger. Gibbers comes to you with an offer and doesn't change it much he'll say something like "would you do this for this". Dinger doesn't BS when dealing he'll say I want this guy (I've mostly dealt in picks with him admittedly). I find this league easier to make deals in than FC (where I almost never propose deals) mostly cause I have an idea of who likes who in this pool. I know not to offer BTS a big xFIP guy and I know certain guys aren't going to overvalue picks. Jaysblue sometimes is difficult and other times he comes with a deal very close and it just takes some tweaking to get the deal done. He does things by text with me which works sometimes and others it doesn't. I don't like to make deals when I'm away from my computer (Santos got Mujica from me this way and I've stopped dealing with him because of it.
  23. My first adult suit was an Olive Green suit bought at Stollery's...I'm guessing it was 1989, I thought I was so cool in that suit...now I'm surprised I didn't get laughed out of job interviews.
  24. I have so much issue with the midnight start time...west coast ball games are still going on and I'm usually streaming MILB games by that time. But it is what it is I can't argue with years of IRL Battleground history.
  25. ugh you beat me to it. Honestly I'd just run a Football survivor pool and take a cut (announced before hand, I do things on the up and up)
