There is nothing I want more than for Melo to join Lebron and not win a championship. I want Melo to go his entire career without another playoff game if possible. There is no one in sports I dislike more. I'd hold a lambchop up to AA's mouth before being in the same room as Melo

and they are still near max contracts which is stupid. Does Miami let them all walk and do it all over again next year with Durant, Aldridge and Rondo
  3. your going soft in your old age.
  4. Not to mention an 8 game stretch where Drabek has walked very few. You'd think the what have you done for me lately crowd would be all over him. I'd just like to see them convert him to the pen now and see what he does there. They likely are never going to use him as a starter so why not see what happens if you just let him throw 95 every time until his arm falls off just like Daddy.
  5. diagram full of GIF's. I know Dominicans hate Cubans. And I think Dominicans like Venezuelans (to throw a little South American action into the fray)
  6. year and a half left on the contract. No way there is leverage taken away yet or maybe ever
  7. Proof that all from the Caribbean are really Mexicans.
  8. Much like Peter O'Brien, Refsnyder is man without a position. He played right field at Arizona, but the Yankees shifted him from outfield to second base in 2013, and he received mixed reviews for his work. Refsnyder has enough athleticism to become an average defender at the position in time, but he needs plenty of repetitions. He's a smart, above-average runner, but not a burner, who led Yankees full-season players in stolen bases (23). He's an extremely patient hitter, as evinced by his 84 walks against 82 strikeouts, who recognizes spin well and knows when and how to go with a pitch. Refsnyder sprays line drives all over the field and has the ability to keep the head of the bat in the zone for a long time. He doesn't get much lift, so he's not going to hit more than 10-12 home runs going forth. Refnsyder's modest power fits the second base profile better than the corner-outfield profile, so taking root at the keystone is crucial. He's headed for Double-A Trenton in 2014.

Adam Silver continues to do the right things publicly and he invites Austin as his personal guest for the draft. I hope Baylor honours his scholarship and lets him finish his schooling (assuming that's what he wants and is able to do)
  10. BA preseason. With a track record of performance in international tournaments, Barreto was one of the most decorated Venezuelan players ever and one of the top international talents available in 2012. He signed for $1.45 million and made his stateside debut in 2013, earning a promotion to the Rookie-level Appalachian League for 15 games. Barreto has the tools to be an above-average hitter, with above-average bat speed, quick hands and a line-drive stroke. He is an aggressive, righthanded hitter with good pitch recognition and drives the ball to right field well. He has natural strength, a physical upper body and good natural leverage in his swing that could allow him to hit double-digit home runs and plenty of doubles. With athleticism, plus speed and a plus arm, Barreto is an up-the-middle player, though his long-term defensive destination is not determined. Currently a shortstop, he lacks elite defensive actions and footwork, but he will be given every opportunity to stay at short. Barreto has the potential to hit at the top of a lineup and become an impact regular. He likely will start 2014 in extended spring training, then return to the Appy League as an 18-year-old. He may wind up at second base or in center field if he moves out of the infield.
  11. wouldn't you say the same thing if I told you in March that that the Jays would be in first place and moved Lawrie to 2B to accommodate a Francisco/Tolleson platoon. I'm not sure of Norris' true value at this point (we know that Jays fans are going to rate him like his current numbers, but i have no idea what his value truly is). If he's really in the bottom half of the top 100 like I think Severino is...than it's probably about right for 2-3 win utility IF who's barely making above league min and will probably top out around 8M for the next two years. It's like getting a young and healthy Izturis. Heading into 2015 we'd have Izturis and Valbuena which would give us more IF depth than what we've had in years. It's very possible that Osuna, Tirado or Nolin would get it done. Better chance that the Jays go looking for Valbuena in a much bigger deal with Shark or Hammel.
  12. I know it's not sexy...but I think it's realistic to seek Valbuena from the Cubs. He's got two more years on his contract and is only a tick below Lawrie defensively at both 2B and 3B. I saw a Yankee article suggesting Severino would get it done for them...which would likely equals Norris for us. Seems like a big price for a non impact bat but it's probably about the Cubs asking price.
  13. I'm looking for a partner (BBDL guy maybe) to help me manage my lineups. Because of things financially (OSAP rejection) I've asked to be scheduled for between 60 and 70 hours a week for the rest of the summer. It sucks but it's better than leaving school for me. As I've told the few people I've responded to...I probably won't be dealing right now as I'm not really watching anything but highlights and I really don't want to make decisions.
  14. I somehow think that a SP trade isn't going happen (at least not for a front line pitcher). A two or more year 2B probably does more for this club at this point and moving forward. But if this team truly believes in Francisco as a future option that probably won't happen either.
  15. and last year it was his first time through the order that he struggled the worst. I don't think it's "a thing" for Dickey to struggle in the 5th (considering his numbers in the 6th is just fine this year). I think it's so much just expectations still. If you view him as the inconsistent HR friendly pitcher that he is, you'd appreciate the innings he gives the Jays more.
  16. 32 of 34 were quality starts in his MVP season. His two non-quality starts were the above mentioned 11 inning 4 ER loss the other was a 4 ER complete game. Somehow it comes out to a sub 10 fWAR season.
  17. Bob Gibson 26 but over 2 seasons. He started 1968 with 22 straight though...broken off by an 11 inning 4 ER loss. And people wonder why quality starts is a bad stat.
  18. ugh...Hinch seriously knows what he's doing. Brilliant baseball guy that almost everyone has tried to lure from the front office to a field manager role. Why they haven't handed him the job makes no sense unless they feel they need Minaya for contract talks.
  19. I'm trying to think of GM's that might be looking at the Jays and calling right now. Daniels isn't going to deal Beltre without the Yankees and Sox (and probably most of the league) being involved in a bidding war. Maybe Daniel Murphy with the Mets but he's not a name so he's probably as valuable to the Mets keeping him as he is in trade value. Luis Valbuena is the one that makes the most sense. Cubs have loads of middles coming up through the pipe (and probably would take Goins as a stop gap throw in until September). The conversations have likely already happened with the Cubs so we'll know which of our pitching prospects they like. It's becoming a very fitting matchup between the two.
  20. honestly even if Morrow were to come back and pitch well...how drained would our bullpen get without Dickey and his 6.125 innings per start. As much as Buehrle always seems to surprise me...he can't be expected to keep up an almost 7 innings per start average.
  21. I wonder if it's ever happened that a team used catchers as back to back pinch hitters? I'm guessing that even in 40 man expansion that's never happened
  22. against lefties if Bautista is hurt...this could be an ugly lineup. Especially if Gose gets the call. Haven't looked who they face but it shouldn't be a big deal against the Yanks
  23. not to be a prick and take up the other side now...I think 86 wins the East. So being a .500 team keeps you in the race and there is still time to fill holes. This is where my bias hits...I don't trust AA to make the right moves.
  24. one of my Ang favourites. Amazing the guy that can't speak English, and runs his internet by some island rats running on a treadmill, manages to get some of the best GIF's.
