  1. I think many around here dislike Theo because he was a Red Sox guy and even when he went to the Cubs he was considered a guy that could only win with spending. I personally have always considered him a top 5 GM.
  2. no offense as I love my little Dukie...but Stroman has yet to prove he can be a major league pitcher yet either. Every year rookie pitchers come up and start very well. It's much tougher to be good once teams have seen you. I love Stroman's future but he's far from a sure thing still.
  3. I thought Daury Torrez has been the most impressive non top 100 pitcher I've seen in the low minors this year outside of Severino (admittedly I've watched about 400 games less than last year at this point). When I look at the stats they don't match what I saw (95 MPH and throwing nothing but strikes), it reminds me so much of Henderson Alvarez.
  4. Amazingly enough they are 12 - 12 against LH Starters. Beating some good ones too Moore (3-0), Oberholtzer (5-2), Lester (7-1), Hamels (6-5), Lee (10-0), CJ Wilson (7-3), Ross (5-3), Doubront (7-4), Lester again (7-2), Kazmir (3-2), Pomeranz (3-2), Bedard (10-5)...and no wins against a lefty since May 26th.
  5. doesn't bother me as long as three things are happening 1. They acquire a starter 2. They are trading bullpen arms 3. they won't throw some arbitrary limit on them next season
  6. Really would you overpay for Chavez or Milone? I don't think either are a significant upgrade on Happ moving forward.
  7. I think they just got their playoff rotation at least. And have some injury depth but what they had prior to this was going to look good because of some shiny home splits but wasn't very good at all.
  8. it's still position changes for 5 guys at least. Most of the projected changes are because the other guys the Cubs have. Most would have stayed if they were in a different situation. Might add in that Olt and Lake are left out of your scenario too. Not a bad bench. In thinking about Valbuena...the Jays dumped him to make room for Omar Vizquel. Not sure if that one is in the AA should be fired thread but it's a 5 WAR ( over 2.5 season) player dumped for a hundred year old babysitter
  9. that's a lot of guys playing out of position and it's missing MWL player of the week Schwarber. It's not a very powerful lineup outside of Baez and Bryant though. Theo will still get pitchers for Valbeuna (I still think it will be from the Jays or Yanks) and Hammel IMO.
  10. when your highest fWAR from your pitching staff, over the last 30 days, is your closer...it's time to look for pitching options. Beane isn't going to buy in to some low'ish ERA's, this is not a great pitching staff at all.
  11. Rays are just 8.5 back. They have to be thinking they could still be in this thing.
  12. what is it, just three posters going to play the blame game on Melky in this situation?
  13. Don't be silly...I only have the mustache in November
  14. Those chairs in the Chavez house are amazing
  15. 4 if you include the f or r as we should
  16. could have left the other title so my joke still plays. Think of me first next time.
  17. it was well put together...but when you self promote on a board you are going to take a beating. If you enjoy montage type videos then you should watch.
  18. oh you said Promo...that was disappointing.
  19. I was just going to talk about using a pinch runner there
