  1. Sorry guys, I need to upgrade the server, memory usage is through the roof on gamedays. Please be patient while I upgrade, sorry for the inconvenience. Edit. We are switching servers. Doubling memory and switching to SSD hard drive. Server costs are $500+/year. If you would like to donate to the site, please visit: http://www.bluejaysmessageboard.com/donate.html Any amount would be appreciated. I'll probably start putting an ad up as well, though with 90% the same people everyday it probably won't bring in too much revenue. You will receive a "Donor" title under your name. In the past we have received donations from Gnarls (who should be getting paid not donating!), Ang (who should probably be the last person here donating) and an anonymous donator. I am not begging, nor are you obligated, but if you want to help out, you're more than welcome to. If you don't have the extra money, please don't! I know a lot are in university/college. Thank you!
  2. It's a combo of too many people and something creating a loop. Basically the loops makes it seem like there are 10x as many people than there really are but creating so many different requests. I need to upgrade the server. Sorry guys.
  3. AA f***ed up. He did the same thing JP did when he got money to spend, got a boner and couldn't contain himself. I didn't like any of these trades from the beginning and people kept saying be quiet and enjoy it. How many of you are enjoying it now? He dumped a ton of our prospects for ridiculous contracts that could have been had via free agency one year earlier! So basically gave our prospects away. I actually like Reyes and Buehrle, but Escobar will probably out produce Reyes again. And there is a chance Hech even out produces him. Now the incompetent front office is stuck with no money. You don't dump your farm and take on a shitload of contracts to almost go all in. What the f*** is your thinking with that? If you're going to go this far, go another $15-$20M more because with that extra money you're atleast a contender, it tells the fans something, and puts this franchise in the positive for years to come. Where we are now we 'might' be a contender. If we don't contend this year it's going to look very bad for this franchise not only this year but going forward. Extra $20M in payroll will hurt profits a lot less than a failing team this year, I promise you that. The problem is one day they said "let's go all in". And they went all in with any moves they could find. No thinking, no planning, just go all in and acquire whatever we can. Missed out on Darvish, missed out on Ryu, missed out on Latos should have went after Cliff Lee or another big name player. Don't want to give a big contract or pay big money for proven stars, but you're fine with paying Buehrle $20M... and giving up our prospects to get those contracts. AA got hosed on that deal. Those contracts were even back loaded, Marlins should have been giving them away. AA and his team have done a fantastic job drafting. AA has made some pretty good trades early on. But AA has made some terrible moves, whether Rogers had a say in it or not. Sad to say it but it looks like AA should have stayed assistant GM for his wisdom but someone else had the final say in the decision making.
  4. I think that was the issue a lot of people had with him. He would talk about these secret sources but never give more information, and they often didn't come true. That and him always biased towards the umps lol. I didn't agree with him a lot, but respected his opinion.
  5. No. You know what's going to happen, we think okay, they have some injured guys we should be able to win.... pitcher can't throw a strike and walks three in the first inning alone.
  6. They should have waited even longer to try and get a SP... I'm not a huge fan of Santana, but with him, atleast you know what you are getting. Besides Buehrle, we have no f***ing idea what we'll get with our starting rotation. Not one of the four we can be comfortable with going into a game. It's going to be "I wonder if we'll see the good xxxxx or the bad xxxxx today?" And that's a s***** feeling to have. I remember last year we'd get on a bit of a roll and it would be Dickey's day to pitch... a time when you should feel most comfortable, yet it was when you got an uneasy feeling... and rightfully so.
  7. I would have rather dumped all our prospects for that man, than the haul we got back. (both trades)
  8. That's too bad. Gotta admit, I was expecting him to be some over weight old man. Looks like he was in alright shape.
  9. See how it goes now. Something was/is creating a 'loop' and using all the memory. I uninstalled something, let's see if it worked.
  10. Crazy, I had no idea he was that old. Havne't talked to him since the old board but I used to give him s*** all the time too. His Rajai Davis homerun thread was great last year.
  11. ^^That's pretty cool. My boy Heck is killing it once again! This guy is going to easily out WAR Reyes this year. Some sample size yeah yeah, but i think with his D and even an okay bat he should put up nice numbers.
  12. let me look into it more, have been noticing it as well.
  13. Yeah I think that's a good idea and we'll do something like that.
  14. So sad, I don't care for Santana, but a consistent pitcher like him would have went a long way this year. Interesting to see how Hech does this year. Starting the season off well.
  15. Gonna come out and say it. I've been a bit of a Miami fan since they made that trade with us and some of their other moves.
  16. Well I did mention that in my post, and I can admit it. But I said it from the beginning, I want this to be the biggest and best Jays forum. Sure quality is always good, but variety is also good. Besides the trolls in the old forum, when people stopped posting it was a small group of people posting. The old forum was best when there was a ton of people posting, more acticity, more opinions, even if someo of them were new to baseball.
  17. That's the problem when you start a board with a set bunch. If you start from scratch everyone is new and people trickle in. But this group started with 50+ that have known each other and posted for a long time. So a lot of time the thinking and ideas are the same. And like I said new guy comes a long with different ideas or doesn't do something the 'right' way, one guy makes a comment and everyone else jumps in. I think this board should be a lot bigger than it is, but is being held back because of some of these issues. That being said I used to be the first one to jump down someone's throat for a stupid idea lol. But there is also a way to post your ideas/thoughts. Some come in open to learn and be ready for debate while some come in thinking they should be GM and anyone that disagrees is wrong.
  18. Jays are better than most think. This isn't much different than the team that was predicted to win it all last year. We failed so hard last year, most gave up hope. AA still should have made atleast one decent upgrade though, frustrating that you take the team so far, and are afraid to add one more piece that could put you over the top.
  19. He's gonna lose it when he reads it lol.
  20. Posted in another thread, said Bonifacio is closing in on his hit total for all of last year.
  21. We may see an influx of new members over the new few weeks, please treat them with respect, no matter how much you may disagree with their opinon or topic of choice. If we get off to a good start, you can expect it even more. We want this site to grow, and it has the potential to be a lot bigger than it is right now. I think a lot of new members get turned off, or afraid to post, and end up leaving, and it shouldn't be like that. There are going to be new baseball fans. There are going to be people new to message boards. We'll have young teens, and we'll have older fans. We'll have fans that have never heard of WAR or other saber stats before. We get in the gang mentality where one guy might jump on someone for something, and everyone else jumps in. Then Spanky gets involed. Please just try to show people some respect, I'd love to see this place doubl in size by the end of this season.
  22. Yeah, I didn't follow at all the whole offseason. I can't believe he didn't do a single thing. You don't go kinda all in. If you're going all in, you go all in. We needed atleast one decent move.
  23. It will be interesting to see how big of a difference it is compared to last year.
  24. Any other way to get the games, preferably HD? Probably not going to get a chance to watch a ton of games this year, and dont' really want to spend $20/month for 5-10 games a year.
  25. Bonifacio closing in on his hit total for all of last season.
