I never liked the Dickey trade from the beginning, but you're a liar or didn't watch baseball if you didn't expect him to atleast be decent. Too many times I see people say "He had one good year". If you think he only had one good year it makes me think you look in the win/loss column and that makes me cry. In his three years in NY he pitched over 600 innings with a 2.95ERA, 1.15WHIP, 2.2BB/9. That's 7th in the league in ERA over those three years. So no, it wasn't one good season, it wasn't one 'fluke' season.
