It's really important that Atkins knows when he needs to do this, and he proved in 2024 that he did.  GM's too optimistic and stubborn to do it hurt their teams badly.

You’re telling me you don’t entertain it at all if you could completely change the trajectory of the future with one haul. I think you have to listen with how much people overpay for relievers.

If the owners don't back of their stance of wanting a salary cap I don't think their is any chance we have Baseball next Season. The players will push back against it until they have no choice. It's going to be a long Baseball Winter.

I 100% would - even if they 1000% intend on competing in 2027.  You can go buy another closer to replace Varland.  Mason Miller cost Leo De Vries, who's a Top 5-8 in MLB.  If you get something close to what the A's got for Miller, you sell and buy another closer.  This team needs it's next young, controlled superstar.  You have to listen.

Yeah I think I'm on team Sell Varland now honestly. If you can get an actual exciting everyday player who's a top ten prospect in MLB you have to do it. This team needs cheap all star talent.

I think that Preller is the only executive in MLB willing to part with such a high level prospect for a reliever and he already traded for Miller so he won't need Varland.

Agreed. There's no way the players agree to a salary cap.
