Jays were 500 and promising

then this front office tease once again the baseball gods and called up the curse Brandon Little then followed that with Hoffman having his mental midget brain cramp throwing an errand ball to the third base to break a tie game

The duo bad luck plus the return of another carrier of bad juju and all went downhill from there

ugh

Pretty much self sabotaged really lol

The home run count for Vlad doesn’t really mean that much.

Take a player like Fred freeman.  He never hit many home runs, like 25 or 30 a year, but he would hit like 50 doubles which helps

if Vlad could just do freeman numbers, average a 900 ops and play good defence, he will be worth his contract

Vlad will be lucky to reach 10 at this rate. Thats a massive difference from 25

Barry bonds hit 39 before the all star game once.  So only having a few isn’t an issue.  We have half a season to play

2-4 batters today: 0-12, 7 Ks

Rest of team: 10-19, 3 Ks

Seems wrong somehow

slugging matters, one slugs the other doesn't

They need a goal that he can control and does not lead to pressing.

Like tell him his plate approach needs to improve. Move him down and then move him up when it improves,

Maybe that will get him to stop pressing.

Fat guys are always sluggers.  He’s just not doing it right now.  Maybe soon.  Maybe next year, he does some slugging.  Maybe in his 30s.

Cease shot himself in the foot with the walks, but this offense is also putrid

The high BB/9 is what's going to hold him back from being a true #1 but yeah this offense needs to step up plain and simple.

Cease reminds me a lot of AJ Burnett - excellent stuff but needs to harness it more consistently. Regardless he's still a very solid 1A or #2 even with the control issues. It's crazy he's never had a BB/9 lower than 3.00 before - he's always averaged high 3's pretty much throughout his career.
