Happy Good Morning GIF

Waking up and checking the standings to see the Jays in a playoff spot despite half the team being hurt and our 500 million dollar man turning into Luis Arraez.

Spanky and I tried telling you this all along but this team is going to be just fine.

(Where is Spanky btw?)

Legit worried about Scherzer

Kind of want someone prepared to go in early today for multiple innings if need be

I'm hoping the stuff has returned to what he featured in his first start of the season. His stuff metrics dropped precipitously right as the forearm issue was announced .

I hope so too

Would be some nice to have 5 capable starters again! Spencer did amazing, just always scared his arm will literally fall off after pitching 50x more then ever before lmao

Scherzer looked pretty good in AAA. I think he'll look pretty good tonight too, although the Phillies lineup is good enough that the results might not match how well he actually pitches.

My bigger concern is whether he can take the ball every fifth day while remaining effective. Might be able to string together a handful of starts but can he give us a half season's worth spread out over the next 2/3 season? I doubt it.

With Bieber due back soon I'd take a handful of good starts from him right now.

Honestly running out these washed former stars is tiresome. Scherzer and Springer are both toast and shouldn’t be starting.

He'll be back

Wait, did I miss something?  Did he get a temp ban?

Was wondering why fighting has been down 370% on this board lol.

For the love of god get Springer out of lead off

Thought they would have used yesterday to get Springer out of there but we are facing a lefty today.  Maybe he gets one last chance and gets moved down against the next righty with Lukes taking that spot.

Yup.

And Toronto is getting all these positive contributions from rookies and young players. It's a young man's game. Scherzer's rope needs to be very short and Springer needs to be a part time player by July if nothing changes

Springer is old and his projections are starting to near Sanchez, Lukes, Barger territory anyway. So platooning him is making more sense as it keeps him fresh and makes sense statistically.

vs LHP

You could go with a Sanchez/Springer platoon in RF. On the days Springer is in RF you could have Kirk DHing, thus giving him and Val more ABs. Our righty bench bats suck so this could be a way to help mitigate that.

vs RHP

When facing righties, Springer could still DH some, but I would sprinkle in some of our lefties. Pinango would be a good option here with Lukes in LF and Sanchez in RF.

Ive been asking for Springer to hit the field for a month now.  His bat doesnt justify him being a full time DH and his defense cant be worse than Pinango/Sanchez.

This gives the team more options right now and during the trade deadline when trying to make a big add.  Heck, theres a small chance Santandar comes back in August who could go there.

Never understood Springer as a fulltime DH - put him in RF or even center.  This might also wake up his bat.
