Laika Community Moderator Posted June 6 Posted June 6 Is Brandon Valenzuela the best hitter on the team? Yes.

If he continues to mash as he has for the last 5-6 weeks this could be an actual possibility along with occasional DH starts for Kirk as well. Springer has been hitting better in recent weeks with a 120'ish wRC+ but he's shown no signs of peak summer of George this season at any point.

And next year Springer presumably gone (makes me sad but it's probably not smart to bring him back) Kirk catches 2/3 of games Valenzuela catches 1/3 and 1/3 DH Heinemann stashed in AAA Santander 2/3 DH and 1/3 COF with late inning defensive replacement

For instance Sandy Leon has been catching for the Braves with a bat worse bat than Heineman has displayed.
Laika Community Moderator Posted June 7 Posted June 7 Yeah he'd get claimed. Probably ends up traded for cash in a week

For instance Sandy Leon has been catching for the Braves with a fat worse bat than Heineman has displayed. He will most likely be claimed. But they have another Catcher on the 40-man roster in Willie MacIver who will be the next in line. But the thing about Heineman is he has been re-acquired twice before. So if they want him back a good chance they can bring him back.

There is a scenario where it does happen. Clement is built for a good run into his 30s.

Sanchez, Barger, Lukes. Pinango. One too many if Varsho returns to CF and Santander DHs. Never too late to make Straw a utility infielder I guess.😉

The defense of "other GMs have done dumb stuff so that makes it possible" isn't even remotely relevant
