They might give him a chance to get some of his healthy pitchers back, but Schneider might end up on the hot seat here. The mediocrity of the American League is keeping them alive, but that can't last forever.

Even if the Jays make a playoff, they would get swept.

On the contrary, Ross will probably do something dumb like trade Parker and King for a Skubal rental.

The players have tuned him out, all his remaining juice was fully squeezed last season and in the WS. There is zero accountability on this team and the team needs a real MLB manager. The problem is Shatkins only wants a yes man type manager like Schneider and Montoya. The franchise has become a joke, good thing Ed Rogers is a moron and keeps whipping out $300M+ to the Shatkins nightmare.

Where would this team be if Atkins had to work with a payroll that all previous GMs did.  Kudos to Shapiro on that though.

Reminder that the "usuals" here were laughing at this man after 1 down season full of injuries.  Dudes a wizard!

Wonder why only in baseball, you need several weeks of rehab games before you rejoin your team.  Every other major sport, as soon as youre healthy enough to get on the field, youre playing for the big league team.

You can't just jump into hitting MLB pitching after being out for an extended period of time. It's the hardest thing to do in any professional sport.

Is it really? Im talking about the good/elite players... not the average guy.

Other sports have physical contact between players that cant be controlled and should be riskier for reinjury too.

That hitters require weeks of ramp up games that no other professional athletes in their sports require? Pitchers i get, hitters shouldn't need that much time.  Meh lol

Does anybody here watch that YouTube page, Blue Jays today?

Occasionally. They’re a bit newbie-friendly for my liking though. Prefer the gate 14 dudes even though Jonny is a bit of a loudmouth

The great Jays defense continues to shine lol

Even on the broadcast, they said the Jays defense has been more "middle of the pack" which shows it hasn't been as sharp as it was last season. Even with the eye test from watching games, this isn't the same team defensively from last season.

The sad thing is, the Jays are waiting on Barger to come back, but he'd just replace Pinango on the roster, who has hit tremendously well for a rookie depth player, and it would also mean benching one of Lukes (who to my surprise has been great post vertigo) and Sanchez (130 wRC+ against RHP). I'm not sure a savior is coming. Kirk instead of Heineman (assuming that's the direction they go rather than demoting BV) would be the clear upgrade.

The Jays actually look pretty solid when it comes to their corner outfield options. They’ve all been effective in different ways, especially Sanchez, who has shown some pop against RHP, and Pinango stepping up after being called up from the minors.

I’ll admit, I was one of Nathan Lukes’ biggest critics, but he’s taken his game to another level since coming back from the IL. He’s proved me wrong. Whether that lasts long term is another story, but right now, his bat absolutely deserves to be in the lineup every day against RHP. I still prefer Sanchez long term, but it’s nice to have both options at the moment, especially with Barger out.

Once Barger comes back, though, the issue becomes having too many left-handed bats. The Jays could really use a right-handed platoon bat to pair with one of Sanchez or Lukes.

They’re definitely missing Springer’s bat at the top of the lineup, but he may need to sit more often in favour of Lukes or Sanchez starting. And they badly need Vladdy to start hitting like Postseason/WBC Vladdy again. The man needs an 8–10 HR month, haha.

AA has had his fair share of questionable trades and signings too, both in Toronto and Atlanta.

Sean Murphy looks like he might be washed now, and trading William Contreras in that deal is looking like a huge mistake.

Signing Kim to a one-year, $20M contract has been awful. Mike Yastrzemski signed a two-year, $23M deal with Atlanta this past offseason, and while he’s been alright, that’s still a lot of money for a platoon/4th outfielder. The Profar suspension obviously hurt too, but there’s not much you can really do about that.

For the most part, the Braves’ bats have been healthy and productive this season. Olson, Baldwin (before landing on the IL), Albies, and Harris have all been great. Even Dubon has provided value. Acuna is back now after missing some time, though Austin Riley has still been disappointing so far.

As for the pitching, Atlanta’s rotation was pretty much depleted, arguably even worse than Toronto’s, but they’ve managed to hold up. Sale has been elite, Strider is healthy again, and guys like Grant Holmes and Bryce Elder have stepped up. The back end of the bullpen has also been lights out with Lee, Suarez, and Iglesias.

Good for you, I hope the team gets healthy and the bats wake up personally as I would rather enjoy the season vs watching it get blown up at the deadline.

The Braves have been following a similar trajectory to the Blue Jays albeit a year behind. The Blue Jays had a top level offense in 2022, bad offense but still solid team in 2023, had a horrible year in 2024 where everything went wrong and then rebounded massively winning a division in 2025. The Braves had a historic level offense in 2023, took a big step backwards in 2024 offensively but still had a solid squad, had a terrible year in 2025 where everything went wrong and now lead MLB in wins in early June.

This isn't how the playoffs work.  It's a coin flip essentially.

I think it's more about getting your timing back and preparing your body to play daily.

All other sports have more days off and thus more in-season practice time.  Player's returning from injury in other sports use that practice time to get back up to speed, whereas MLB players do that in the minors.  MLB is a bit unique that way.

Barry Bonds and Miguel Cabrera said it wasn't that hard.  I didn't read what other players said but I'm sure that is the general consensus.
