He looks horrible. His back is all taped up for some reason and he's sitting 88. His fastball is so crap that Statcast thinks it's a changeup.

He's got 2 swings and misses the entire day. Thankfully he's getting by because it's the Angels but the dam might break at any moment.

Im sure you were *****ing about him last year when he was pretty damn good for us with similar stuff.  Dude has gone through 4 innings for what should only be 1 earned run allowed.

Its ok to judge players by results, which I know might be hard for some lol.  He hasnt given up much hard contact today aside from the HR.

I've been higher on him more than most during his Jays tenure. Something clearly going on with him. They said it was the flu and maybe he's just not finding his mechanics since then. But 88 mph is going to get crushed over the course of the season. Needs to get back up to 91.

2 homers, 2 walks

throwing 88

are we going to make excuses for Eric Lauer all year?

at least the Hoffman truthers could point to strikeouts and other objectively positive information

Good challenge.

Doesn't look like the offense is doing anything today so might as well see if you can squeeze another inning out of Lauer for the bottom of the lineup.

Despite Eric Flower Power's best efforts to get his ERA higher than Hoffman's, the Jays could still win this one. Soriano is out and the Angels bullpen is atrocious.

3 runs (2 of which should be earned) and people think Lauer is at fault today.  Use some of that energy on this piss poor offense that hasnt scored so far.  Hopefully this pitching change will turn the game for us.

But the offense isn't nibbling at the zone and then throwing 88 mph "heaters" and then flapping his yap in between starts

They were also facing a pretty good starter lol

I should go easier on Eric Lauer.

Ultimately, today, he was not put in a position to succeed.

He should have been deployed behind an opener.

I prefer to use results when it spans a long sample size.  Lauer's numbers since August 2025:

5.40 ERA

5.50 FIP / 4.77 xFIP

3.5 BB/9

1.49 WHIP

2.0 HR/9
