At their best they'd be able to snag Vlad and Freeman, but that's liekly a pipe dream since Vlad will likely always pay for the DR and Freeman, after this year's decline to play to be closer to family in ST probably won't play again next time around.

Yeah Vladdy will always play for the DR, never Canada. As for Freeman, he would have been a nice bat to have again but oh well.

Vlad has said he'll play for Canada, bro. Just not this time around.

He’ll play when he’s washed and DR has better options, book it

THe problem is the players have to agree to attend and go. Pitchers like Pivetta, Brash, Cade Smith, Sabrowski... that's 4 arms that would make the staff immediately better, but pitching is always going to be Canada's weakness.

On the position player side... the rosters is about as good as it gets for Canada right now. The best guys are there. Maybe the 3rd Naylor is ready to contribute next time around, and Cassie takes a step forward? Who else is waiting in the wings as a top tier bat for Canada?

Yeah of course, it's definitely on the players. I was moreso alluding to other top nations being able to recruit their top arms this time around, yet most of ours decline and we're forced to go with guys with half a decade of retirement. The offense is fine, could be better but it has some talent. Owen Caissie should be hitting no lower than 5th, Julien should arguably not be starting at all, but it's not as big of an issue as the pitching having little depth and us not leveraging a guy like Tugboat Wilkinson more than a 2 years retired James Paxton.

Okay.

Its nothing against him, im not really upset about the fact he wants to play for DR. It makes more sense.

Canada doesn't deserve it but having to simply beat Cuba or PR to advance seems fine by me

Its baseball, and anything can happen. Just keep it close and you never know.

Just look at the Taiwan/Korea game or even the Aus/Japan game.

Just realizing now how easy the path to the finals is for US.

The only threat on this side of the bracket is pretty much Mexico.

Other side has Japan, DR and Venezuela lol.

So its likely gonna be a USA vs DR/Japan final

Feels like the US and Dominicans are on a collision course for the finals. And if Skenes pitches that game US Wins.

Japan is on their level.  Maybe not from a player to player standpoint but as a team.

I'm not saying they are not. But they have to beat the Dominicans and the US to win the classic. And its hard to imagine that Dominican team losing right now. Offense is just firing on all cylinders and its relentless. It would take a great pitcher to shut that lineup down.

Skenes is confirmed to be pitching the Semi-final. US doesn’t really have a starter for the final game yet, maybe Joe Ryan?
