Back in the days, fast balls were mostly thrown at 90 mph. Off-speed pitches wreck arms (particularly young arms) quicker than fastballs.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2025 Posted October 1, 2025 If I’m Alex Cora. Crochet is not coming out of this game. Not a chance Jays24 1
Masterbather Verified Member Posted October 1, 2025 Posted October 1, 2025 2 minutes ago, Jonn said: Alex Cora is smarter. He will ride Crochet 120-130 pitches no problem, Read bats not pitches. Hallelujah! Granted, they have the back end of the bullpen that they don't have to push it. If Yankees had a Whitlock type to go to in that instance, pulling Fried would not be as much of a problem.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2025 Posted October 1, 2025 There is no way you take Chrochet out of the game until he at least allows 1 base runner or runs up his pitch count in the 8th. This was the way postseason baseball was meant to be played when you have a true ace.
M.E. Verified Member Posted October 1, 2025 Posted October 1, 2025 So will Fried/Crochet pitch game 2 of our series?

I've seen teams plan like that in the past, before analytics, hahaha... but it holds water for sure.

And yet the guy who came on allowed 3 consecutive baserunners. Ateast allow Fried to put on 1 baserunner before pulling him with the results he was achieving.
neverbeenhere Verified Member Posted October 1, 2025 Posted October 1, 2025 This Williams is our Hoffman v2, if I understand correctly.

Every playoff run the Jays have made very questionable moves. Until I see common sense from them in the playoffs, I'll have to think this way. Although I do have faith this year is different lol.
Masterbather Verified Member Posted October 1, 2025 Posted October 1, 2025 We can't completely discount the possibility that Chapman at Yankees stadium in the postseason doesn't revert to some strange mid version of his past self.

Spanky__99 and Jays24 1 1
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2025 Posted October 1, 2025 I think a lot of teams wish they traded any prospect package the White Sox wanted for Crochet. Omar and Jays24 2
infinitebook Verified Member Posted October 1, 2025 Posted October 1, 2025 I want every game going to the extras. Hopefully Chapman has another playoff blown save in the tank.

Well within reason.

Trying to predict the future based on past numbers while ignoring what youre seeing in real time is why a front office would pull Berrios after 3 innings. Makes sense that youd probably think thats a smart idea lol.
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2025 Posted October 1, 2025 Why not Chapman for a five out save?
neverbeenhere Verified Member Posted October 1, 2025 Posted October 1, 2025 Volpe was criticized so badly in the summer by the fans, he is good now, yankees not gonna try to replace him with Bo?
